There are a lot of sniper rifles that are way better thAn icebreaker.
Is regenerating ammo really that worth it?
:edit: by a lot i mean like 4 - thanks for the conversation by the way you all helped me through a longg day at work.

In my opinion Ice Breaker is the best weapon in the game for starters who are struggling to level up and don't have many legendary or exotic weapons. With this thing you can basically solo ANYTHING and always be safe without ever running out of ammo. Solely for this reason it's an awesome weapon.

Right and wrong. Right - yes there are better snipers and weapons for specific use. Black Hammer for example against bosses. Unlimited fully reloaded ammo...ice breaker cannot compete with that sadly. Wrong - no. IB is usable 95% of the time. It hits hard and consistently causes people to go pop. At a distance, other weapons with Firefly need a headshot for them to explode. Ankle shot will do with the IB :). It's due to its namesake perk and the ever available ammo that make it more usable and infinitely more valuable than almost all other exotics. Probably Giggidyhorn is better against bosses for quick and easy kills but for everything in between...nah.

Icebreaker is made for PvE, so yes ANMO regen is a beast and makes the sniper one of the best. P&T and Blackhammer ride the bandwagon with it though. PvP....don't use it there

Not really, special ammo is usually plentiful, but the range, impact and overall DPS (minus recharge time) generally yields better results than any other.

It's good. But I have fallen in love with the 5001 sniper from Vanguard.

Edited by vicious1024: 2/1/2015 8:10:43 AMThe utility of being able to regenerate special ammo is what makes Ice Breaker so good for PvE. I feel Ice Breaker's long range scope and high recoil make it largely discomforting for PvP.

I like max range snipers. That are solar. That are also exotics.

In a raid or some strikes? Yes. But black hammer does amazing against bosses with easy crit areas like the Cabal Tank. Septik(what I call him) Walkers ect ect.

I use icebreaker to refill my black hammer. And the splosions.

5 RepliesHey would you list them? So far the only contender is black hammer which is arguably better than ib since it doesn't a natch an exotic slot. Other than that I'd use an ldr void or the queen's wrath sniper that I deleted like an idiot.

LDR and black hammer are my go to legendaries. I only use icebreaker when I'm not using another exotic but it's never my priority exotic

7 RepliesI have both. I personally believe BH is a better sniper rifle even if you don't make the shots for regen, it hits like a Mack truck, ambush sights and STABILITY . What about when I run out of ammo you ask? I can switch to IB for regen then switch back or just use a synth, I also use this cool trick to turn invisible and can run and pick some up off the ground.
