Title says it all. I was playing some Crucible last night and ran into a fireteam of 3 or 4 Vex users. Needless to say, many tears were collected.

A sniper, Thorn or another Vex

How do you counter the Vex? The same way you counter the SUROS, MIDA, Ice Breaker etc. Aim at their head, pull the trigger. If you can't do this, don't complain

Grasshopper... Isn't the solution really countering the tactics of the player(s) using it, just like all the other one-hit kill guns like Thorn, Suros, etc? You can't really defend much, if at all against a direct hit but you can try to outsmart and frustrate the shooter, and if that doesn't work try to make them pay with their life for taking yours. The irresistible attraction with those guns is their ability to do a quick one shot kill. The more difficult you are to kill, the more you frustrate and piss off the shooter, the more aggravated and sloppier they'll get and then their aim suffers which lowers their chances of a kill and it buys you time. Time to run, time to use a 'nade, a super or fire back or maybe even lure them toward your squad where you'll have some support in returning fire. I've been gaming for over 25 years but I'm new to PvP and frankly, I suck at it at this point but I am slowly improving and it's because I've learned there's *two* ways to win. Kill more and *die less*. Chasing exotic bounties has taught me this and I've had to adopt this strategy because I don't have those weapons yet. You will not win a gunfight on their terms. You have to control the battle, even if you die in the end.
