Why do americans treat their troops as if they are some kind of super heros? they do a job, they get paid.
I have yet to read a reply here that ~I would consider reasonable, it all seems like blind patriotism. Why don't I see threads thanking nurses and doctors, teachers etc people that actually better the lives of others, thank them instead of thanking people whose sole purpose is to kill and destroy.

You are obviously ignorant because China and Russia have a bigger military than the U.S.. Not to mention weapons as well!
-
The size of the military isn't that relevant compared to the quality of training and technology of the weapons. Russia has nothing in the USA, and the biggest threat from China is that they are much more ready to accept heavy civilian casualties than the USA, or to use North Korea in a proxy nuclear attack (when NKs capability to do so is realised).
-
Didnt say they didnt you silly twat.
-
Oh my apologies my reply was for its aki and his statement and obviously you are a veteran of a war whom I have offended, if you aren't I am so again sorry
-
What does your country have?
-
SAS. Worlds finest. Google it then come back to me.
-
Are you sas? I think not. So maybe you should shut your -blam!-ing mouth.
-
Nope. Just proud to have the best special forces in the world with such a small population. Dont say much for those bigger countries. I guess you just can't breed em like you can in the UK.
-
Blind patriotism is still patriotism. You don't know enough about American Patriotism and what it's like to love god and country if you're posting something like this
-
You just described Guardians, I'm a Guardian.... I hate you....
-
People like you seriously irritate me.
-
I hate people like you... With a passion.

I'm a firefighter / paramedic and I get plenty of thanks from my community. In America we have many 'heroes', and the men and women of our armed forces are among them. Thank you to all of our international and domestic ambassadors of freedom and peace for your daily sacrifice!!
-
This^ and thank you sir for what you do

Edited by lLemmingl: 1/31/2015 12:16:35 AMLet me see if I can explain... Every member of the armed forces takes an oath to protect the people of the United States from all threats both foreign anf domestic. Think about that... protect the people, not the government or the land... the people. Our military dedicates their lives to protect us. They deserve our respect and gratitude. Yes, I served. I have also lived in another country for several years. One thing that amazed me was how the U.S. is portrayed by foreign media. You only see the violence and stupidity. You are not shown the truth. I was in New Zealand when the earthquake struck Christchurch. The United States was the first country to offer assistance. Earthquake in Japan? We were one of the first to offer help. Downed Malaysian airliner? Our Navy spearheads the search. Starving people in Africa? The U.S. spends billions in aid. The list goes on and on... Before you judhe a nation, any nation, look beyond the media. Peace

Well in all fairness look how we've portrayed the Middle East as a bunch of ignorant goat -blam!-ers. Media is a spork in a pile of spoons and forks. Just there to piss you off.
-
Absolutely true. Some of the nicest people I have met in my travels have been from the Middle-East. The media, worldwide, is a lie.
-
Damn commies...
-
Im a us army infantry soldier id like to see u and show you what I've sacrifice for your right to disrespect people who serve and have served. You -blam!-ing duchebag id like to stab you in the face repeatedly until you realize how stupid and how much of a b i t ch you are

Edited by Johnny7108: 1/31/2015 12:11:11 AM
thank them instead of thanking people whose sole purpose is to kill and destroy.
Because they don't do anything like defend freedom, fight tyrany and injustice, which affords you the ability to live you're little life the way you do. You're a cave dwelling troglidyte for thinking the way you do.
-
Yeah because that's what hitlers army did. The gun doesn't make the armyman, the guy that signs his check does.
-
You win! Godwyn's law proved once again.
-
How is that a law? I mean we're talking about war and armies. What's the most noticeable army in recent history? The ones that are the most despised.
