Why do americans treat their troops as if they are some kind of super heros? they do a job, they get paid.
I have yet to read a reply here that ~I would consider reasonable, it all seems like blind patriotism. Why don't I see threads thanking nurses and doctors, teachers etc people that actually better the lives of others, thank them instead of thanking people whose sole purpose is to kill and destroy.

No american has ever died for me, nor none ever will.
-
Yep, American pilots flew with British pilots in the war to stop the Germans from taking the UK by force. This was well before America officially entered the war. So, some Americans did die for your freedom.
-
No they did not, stop makinjg up bullsshit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Britain "American citizens were prohibited from serving under the various US Neutrality Acts; if an American citizen had defied strict neutrality laws, there was a risk of losing their citizenship and imprisonment. It is believed that another four Americans misled the British authorities about their origins, claiming to be Canadian or other nationalities"
-
Nice idea, but completely false. American volunteers flew in the RAF and RCAF. Learn history: http://www.historynet.com/a-few-americans-in-the-battle-of-britain.htm
-
Read what you posted, by pretending to be Canadian... 9 of them, the Irish provided more pilots hahaha I'm extremely well versed in world history, you are obviously not.
-
Whether they pretended to be Canadian or not is a moot point in consideration of your original statement. The fact still remains that Americans died to protect your freedom as well. I never said America as a nation did, even though later on they did, alongside their British comrades. So, either you retract your original statement that no American has ever died to protect your freedom, or continue to twist semantics to convince yourself that you're right. Either way, my point is made that they in fact did, no matter how many of them came to the aid of your country.
-
Actually they did. The whole bombing of London thing, that you guys couldn't defend your largest city from. We mainly stopped that from happening again.
-
We didn't mainly stop that. We helped a bit, but the British in the RAF mainly stopped that.
-
No, do you just make this stuff up? There were no american military involved in the battle of britain which lasted until 1940, as america had not entered the war and it's personnel were prohibited from being involved in hostilities.
-
No military, no. But American volunteers, yes.
-
9 of them.
-
Did you just quote wikipedia?
-
Of course, this isn't a court of law or a thesis, I can quote wikipedia.

Edited by brieareos: 2/2/2015 10:58:07 AMWikipedia can be edited by anyone, so not really that reliable for info. You are such a child, you cannot handle the fact you did not make me angry and you were wrong, deal with that.
-
Yeah I'm aware of that, but it doesn't matter in some random internet discussion. So well done trying to make some irrelevant point about nothing of importance.
-
Edited by brieareos: 2/2/2015 8:25:08 PMNice try kid. You do not seem to understand the words you are using anymore, you pseudo intellectual.
-
Still trying I see, you should quit, your point was irrelevant and non-existent, just deal with it.
-
They consider them heroes because they risked their lives and put their country's citizens before themselves. That is why.
-
Edited by Sylok's Defiler: 1/31/2015 5:16:55 PMNot super heroes, just heroes in general. They risk their lives to protect their rights and way of life from terrorists, opposing combatants, and prank hackers alike. They are monumental, willing to sacrifice their lives for the better of a nation. If you believe your country's military to be a blemish on society, take a moment to remember why they enlisted and what they're fighting for. If that doesn't make you regret asking such a blatantly stupid question, then you were never human to begin with.
-
Hey there, uh mo didn't join the Navy to kill and destroy, shocking right? Yea no I joined to protect my family and friends not to mention all the opportunities it will offer me in the long run
-
U. S. Citizens enjoy freedom because their service men and women give up some of their freedoms. Yea, alot of the population are blindly patriotic but it stems from the educated minority that understands this simple fact.
-
People are going to hate you for this. But I do see your point.
-
I hate when military guys lose an argument and have their default "RESPECT ME I AM IN THE MILITARY" yhea, slaughtering. It's not a fair "war". You guys are rapi ng them with military dominance, no pride in that
-
I agree. But what they really say is " i dont agree with what you say, but ill put my life on the line to give you the freedom to say it" -blam!- you, army guy. Get off your high horse.
-
But that's still a fact . . .
