Is Destiny burnout running rampant?
Every single person I talk to is just spent. Sick of the pointless grind...sick of the time suck...sick of crota glitches...sick of running the same damn stories and strikes hundreds of times.
I have seen a 50% drop off over the last 2 weeks and everyone says the same thing...not enough content ...too much grinding...too many glitches.
I know the desticles will come out in full force with their "good the game will get better when all you scrubs quit" well have fun with your dust bunnies and crickets while everyone else gets back to gaming for fun.
Edit. I never expected so many replies...crazy good guys...also so surprising that it was only a couple (that I've read so far ) giving me shit.
I never once said I didn't get my money's worth nor that I now dislike the game ..just simply what's stated here.
Edit 2. The 50% number and everyone is relating to my friends list (which I assumed was obvious as I can't talk to every guardian in the world)
Edit 3. Wow! So many replies and actually alot of agreement. Most people seem to be in the same boat as me...we absolutely love this game, we just want it to be the best game it can be. We are definitely in need of some new crucible modes...like swat...and a Co op firefight mode would be amazing
Edit 4. Title changed to a question because that's really what my intention was. I saw a trend among my friends (I know that's a small sample size ) and I was curious if it was widespread after talking with employees at 3 of my local gamestops who said they've seen an influx of destiny returns this week.

Notably most of us love this game and really hope for some more meaty content with next DLC...I bet almost all of us here just want that!

Over 1000! Holy shit...so obviously it's not just my friends...this is pretty widespread it seems. Maybe Bungie will do something now, because talking to them didn't work...if this really is that common, bungie already knows without reading in these forums.

I have stopped playing as I'm just exhausted from the same stuff all the time. I've been able to focus on my other games and having a blast with dragon age inquisition. I'm looking forward to borderlands on ps4 as well. I will come back to destiny when there's more to do.

I'm there now, I felt the game took a dive as soon as TDB dropped and it's never recovered for me. The only thing keeping me here is the G-horn maybe falling in my lap... One day!! Don't get me wrong I love the game it's just run out of fire and it's the first week since launch that I haven't even been bothered about getting on for the reset.

Been playing since launch. Yesterday, my wife noticed I been doing the same thing over and over for the last few months then it hit me that I should really get off the hamster wheel for a little while lol.

Yea its gotten to the point that I only play to raid and thats down to like once a week but I have far cry to hold me over till the next dlc.

It's getting there. I only find joy in it when I'm running my low level buddies through it now. The game is still exciting and new for them. Little do they know they are going to get the same gun and shader 8 more times.

This is exactly my mind set. I'm no longer getting anything new, and no amount of exotic chests, nightfalls, or raids will leave me satisfied with spending the time to do it. Just dissapointment every time I pick up the controller. I get on to do maybe 1 nightfall every other day and jump into a boss checkpoint on the weekends.

I love this game, I just spent the last 4 months doing nothing but playing it (without too much luck either). I'm in dying light now smashing zombies until that gets boring. I'm still doing the nightfall and heroic, but that's it.

I got my first hardlight at the deathsinger last night, was just so happy it wasn't another exotic shard!!! It's truly as if RNGeebus is desperately trying to reel me back in tho, last night was the first time I've played more than a strike or couple bounties due to general burn out.

I mean it's so obvious that the actual plot of the game was one of the last things on Bungies to-do list. I mean the speaker doesn't even have an effing face! The entire dialogue of the whole game does not have one, not ONE animation of a mouth speaking words. That is of course you count the ghost glowing and making the same 3 twitching / robot sounds over and over again. They have much bigger concerns when trying to tackle a game that has as much potential as it does.... But that is besides the fact. Sooner or later the big dogs in the gaming culture will understand they can't just throw out a new shitty game every year like call of duty or 2k, madden , whatever. And will actually have to sit down and think, but that probably won't happen until their pockets get a big enough hole in 'em. So it's up to you guys, the community! To step up and have some god damn cojones. - rant over

I agree with almost all of this. There's just not enough variety. If they had bi-weekly events that would make it so much more bearable. I'm playing now and through HOW because I paid for it, but after that I'm going to have to see some really good reviews out of any Bungie DLC or game before I purchase. No pre orders ever agin that's for sure

Yep. When you play all week and don't get a single usable upgrade things tend to get boring.

Love the game, BUT, I am a bit "tired" of the "usual" grind.....Xur had NOTHING I needed OR wanted this past Friday, Soooo, I ran my Hunter Bounties on Saturday, My Warlock bounties Sunday (Mornings) and then played Defiance (free download) both afternoons (had my save from 2 years ago on 360) I admit, It was a nice change of pace/scenery which I will repeat tonight.

I enjoy the game, but I am starting to feel a bit burned out. The CE hard mode is just broken. To many game breaking glitches to count. Players complain about cheese, but the biggest cheeser in the game is Crota on hard mode. I can't tell you how many times I have seen flawless runs wipe because of glitches. I got disconnected twice during a nightfall last night due to 'cattle' error codes. Another player got KTOed twice as well. Also, one of them got heart of the praxic fire, and he was a titan. That's a warlock chest that Xur has still never sold. I got a scout rifle with a terrible perk roll. Now I love the game, but as a gaming father, lack of optional matchmaking for Nightfalls and weekly's is just baffling. I understand why there is not matchmaking for raids, but no in game LFG so the LFG community is spread so thin severely limits how often I get to enjoy a raid. I have seen the amount of destiny players on my friends list drop by at least 50% in the last month. And I can really understand why. I love the game, I really do, but there are just so many tiny, naggling issues that have gone unfixed and in most cases undressed completely. There is so much potential in destiny, I love the game but its not perfect, but on occasion I can see that perfect game under all the mess that is just screaming to get out, I am just trying to stick with it until it becomes that.

3 RepliesI've switched over to Dying Light. Absolutely love it! Made me realise how much time I have wasted doing pointless things on Destiny (grinding strikes, bounties etc..) I'm sure when HoW comes out I will get back into it, but trust me, anybody who hasn't played another game in a while, [b]play it[/b]. You will realise how good it feels to not be playing Destiny. I have The Crew, DAI, and Shadow of Mordor all to finish! I suppose because of this, being burnt out is a good thing!

There just isn't enough to do. Locations - same areas over and over Experiences - same public events same enemies Weapons - once you get the most commonly used Tier 1 weapons theirs no real grind incentive. All the weapons look the same just different colors and there are always the "obvious picks" Up for anything/For the people/Suros/IB/etc Armor - once you get raid gear you are done because everything else just isn't as good Story - no back story and no current story with substance I dusted bf4 off and have been having fun all over again. Sad.

Yep I'm feeling it. I do love it but far cry 4 is finally getting attention being that I've had it since day one. Will play Nf weekly and raids once since I only run one character till March.

1 ReplyI burned out around late November early December. Then after about 2-3 weeks of barely touching it, I came back wanting more. There's just something about Destiny that makes me keep coming back
