The other day I was trying to beat the Maw on legendary, and I was on the part where you have to blast those generators with grenades or a rocket. I went to the armory, that place Cortana says to go for extra ammo, and got a rocket launcher. Okay. I ran out of rockets, so I went back. Then out of nowhere a combat form smacks me, so I turn to shoot it, but I don't see it- but I see it in active camoflauge (sp?). I shoot it, and then some music starts playing, the piece unmistakable for an incoming flood attack. I see two more combat forms coming towards me, in active camoflauge. I just get out of there, scared out of my mind. Someone else has got to encountered them before, no?

they never actually scared me. luckily i saw one coming at me first time through, so never got randomly hit in the back.
-
Yeah that was pretty scary. It's awesome how they mess with you... it's quiet, tooooo quiet...
-
Ahahaha. I love those invisible flood. I think that was one of the best parts of Halo CE. I wish there were some in Halo 2 and 3.
Posted by: Silentone2 They come through a door opposite the end of the room. If you enter and leave the room, or cross half of it the first time you're in there, they come through the door. Fortunately bungie seems to have thrown this in at the last minute, as there are no collision models on the glass parts of the doors. That means you can shove your shotgun in that slot, and blow em away before they ever make it to the door. I assume the camo flood were going to be used more in the game, but they probably were afraid people would have heart attacks.
Or they just wanted to give you a quick fright at the end when you thought you were safe for a few moments.

Yeah, I remember those. They always used to scare the crap out of me.
-
Yeah, that used to scare the crap out of me. But I remember them every time now, if I go in that armoury I'm going straight to the back and waiting by that door with rocket launcher ready.
-
My first reaction was pretty normal for the heavy ordnance sort, sporting a shotty and holding the rockets on my shoulder like always. "Dude bro I see something through the door" "No you don't." "Dude the door's opening. The heck!?! They're invisible! Well forget that!" -BLAM- (rockets delivered with a few lucky pineapples) "Those baddies just don't get it man. This room must be a trap, there was so many of them. I'm not coming back here ever again. That was too close." [Edited on 07.14.2008 1:32 AM PDT]

I remember when I first saw the Active Camo Flood. I stood still for a moment, not believe what I saw, but after getting slashed across the face by a whip-like tendril I came to the realisation that my eyes were not decieving me. As for why I was there in the first place, I was trying to finish the mission on Legendary and had run out of grenades, opting to use the Rockets instead.
Posted by: bobdonkey123 Weird thing is, I went in there by mistake before entering the engine room and there were none in there! It really shocked me when I went back for rockets.
That's the point; they keep you on your toes.

I just noticed them today. Weird thing is, I went in there by mistake before entering the engine room and there were none in there! It really shocked me when I went back for rockets.
Posted by: Jordonferri You just noticed now?
That's the depth of H-1. I just realized it's easier to pistol take out the "bridge Flood" the moment you get up to the 2nd level than engage them in the hallway.
-
They come in through those doors that are dark on the other side where you don't come in. When you first run in there, grab rockets and frags.. wait exactly one second after the door opens and throw all the ballistic heavy ordnance you've got at those doors.
-
Yes, those pesky invisible mean flood coming out of the back of the armory, they are triggered by a timer. If you stay in the armory too long, or you go back after your initial visit they come out. The first time that I encountered them, I died horribly with just one generator to go. I was seriously bummed! Now, I just go back there and wait with my flashlight on and pound them with the shotty for amusement.
-
You just noticed now? Hahaha. No matter how many times I play that level, that part always scares the -blam!- outta me! I can watch the doors, say "Oh they're not coming." Next thing I know right after I look away. Three invisible flood messing me up
-
yea that really annoys me when that happens because i can't see them and they kill me and it really angers me.
-
Just keep pumpin' the shotgun as they come through the door. :D
-
Heheh. That area's tricky on Bungie's part. Just after escaping a 4-way fight(if Flood show up), you go to the Armory to get some ammo and guns, and wouldn't you know it? Camo'd Flood. Happens every time. However, if you wait around a little while, if you keep rockets in your hand, you can kill the Camo'd Flood when they open the back door with a rocket.
-
Ah yes, the phantom Flood. It seems like those jerks get me every time.
