Because it's contrary to normal culture for a man to like ponies so people attach themselves to it because they think it's cool. A mild form of edginess. Also it's an easy way to belong to a group. People want to feel like they belong so they group up with whatever they can. That's why.

In some cases, yes. Others just enjoy the show, simple as that.

A small portion of the fandom if you ask me. Most people I know who liked ponies don't anymore. You don't exactly just quit liking things like that.

Some people just jumped onto the trend for a bit. It also doesn't help that the in between season hiatus is too long. Add that to a non-stop bombardment of entertainment from the Internet, not many can stay loyal.

Nope no one in my family has ever touched me inappropriately and I am straight. I just enjoy the writing and the character development.

There's so many other tv shows with good writing and character dev., why this? Curious.

And its not the only show on TV I enjoy, it just so happens to be one of them.

It doesn't have any vulgarity and the fanbase is very positive....well at least it used to be.
