Yea I know BUT FATEBRINGER!!!! That's probably fine for now but HoW will have 365 attack and in a month you'll be doing 30% less damage. Pretty substantial.
There are obviously a few exception such as Fatebringer in CE HM thralls or certain perks on some weapons. But all things being equal people should understand how damage works and more replies have clearly showed they don't.
Do your own research. Google it. Try it. You can probably get away with a 300 now, but with the expansion pack and 365 attack weapons, they will become obsolete doing 30% less damage (speculation). This started as an honest question, as I am new to the game and trying to figure things out, people seem to think I want to change the 2nd amendment and take away their Fatebringer.

I'll use word of crota for the raid but other than that fate bringer does just fine

Fatebringer.
that is all
Actually by your statement they both do max damage if they both are 300 but once you get the other to 331 its damage is a little more. The max damage thing only matters if your level is lower than that mob. So if you are lvl 30 and the mob is lvl 30 you do max damage with both weapons with the 331 being just a little more but not enough probably to one shot it compared to the other.

Not sure about the 14.5% This certainly isn't the case with fusion rifles. I tested a Peruns Fire (void), Murmur(both solar and arc) and the L.O.T.A. (arc) Funny thing is against Hive Majors the Murmur hits the hardest when solar is selected. Just over 300 (308 IIRC) This is a huge increase greater than 20% above 300ATP weapons. Peruns Fire hits them for 250, L.O.T.A hits for 270 and the Murmur (arc) hits them for 278... Which is an increase of around 6~7%

Next "expansion" will make them worthless, I imagine.

Edited by xilxad: 1/25/2015 5:53:22 AMHeres an example i find valid, elemental damage. For instance i would (and do) take a 300 damage void fusion rifle into the VOG over many 331 rifles. Now if i ever acquire a new one i will gladly switch but a solar or arc isn't going to work as well even with the additional damage. As for any primary that does elemental ( AKA raid weapons) you would be stupid not to use them in the correct situation. If you find something better in the primary slot on the arc burn nightfall strike than Fatebringer please let me know and ill switch immediately.
-
Always remember dps > damage.
-
Because I don't have any elemental primaries that do above 300 damage
-
Everyone does not have the DLC.

You're to smart for these forums. Great presentation to what anyone with common sense should know but doesn't. I just say "let em" go ahead. Keep using 300dmg weapons I don't care.
-
Most of the 331 damage weapons in the Vanguard Armory are not as good as the 300 damage weapons from before the Dark Below update. If I could reforge my 300 weapons at the Gunsmith to upgrade the damage I would gladly do so.
-
Because you cant upgrade IB weapons to 331.
-
Because they can't...
let it Go....let it go!!
I'll replace my VoG HM weps with CE HM weps if I ever get the chance to raid much again (real life, amirite?). Until then, I just rock primaries with elemental damage because of Nightfall, and the rest of the stuff I do during the week (ROC strikes, Crucible) weapon dmg is either completely irrelevant or so negligible a difference as not to matter.
-
Fatebringer and Corrective Measure for the win.

Fatebringrer enough said

Crucible. Nobody takes away my Grim Citizen 3 and or Shadow Price. Nobody! I still use them in PvE for tiger strikes with my lesser secondary character until my main character is done having fun with all the new stuff. That's the way I like it!
-
Voc is all I need to say. Head shots kill most none major or ultra enemies. Plus wizards bro. Takes their shields down like a damn champ then follow up with a few headshots.
-
Let me apologise on behalf of everyone who don't get a constant stream of varied weapon drops. If trading was a thing I'd gladly accept a 331 solar heavy weapon instead of having to use the 300s I have. Hell, my best void fusion rifle is blue.
-
That graph can be skewed easily by the impact used per weapon. 300 to 331 is 10% so will only take 10% longer to kill an enemy. A figure I'm happy to work with to continue using my fatebringer.
-
Because Shadow Price?
-
Why so serious?
-
I've kept my VoG weapons because I want to keep the set.

I have a devil you know and exodus plan launcher, thyre both 300 but amazong
