Yea I know BUT FATEBRINGER!!!! That's probably fine for now but HoW will have 365 attack and in a month you'll be doing 30% less damage. Pretty substantial.
There are obviously a few exception such as Fatebringer in CE HM thralls or certain perks on some weapons. But all things being equal people should understand how damage works and more replies have clearly showed they don't.
Do your own research. Google it. Try it. You can probably get away with a 300 now, but with the expansion pack and 365 attack weapons, they will become obsolete doing 30% less damage (speculation). This started as an honest question, as I am new to the game and trying to figure things out, people seem to think I want to change the 2nd amendment and take away their Fatebringer.

Shadow Price still hits hard. No new Vanguard or Crucible auto rifles can compete with it

Edited by Lead: 1/26/2015 3:23:46 PMyou are missing the DPS point. damage per bullet is totally different than DPS. a lot of the "old" 300 weapon have perks not available in the new one that just make your math moot. especially firefly on a hand cannon on packed mob.. i love my 331/crowd control timur lash for sparse enemies , but packed thralls ? Fatebringer is till king. when HoW will be out maybe that will be different as 31% difference is akin to a light level..14% not much.

I'm holding on to 1 Void Fusion Rifle until I get a replacement.
-
VOC for life !!!!!
-
Because they are better than most of the 331 weapons...
-
Well if they buffed the VoG weapons we wouldn't be having this conversation now would we?
-
Edited by PodgerCakes YUM: 1/26/2015 1:41:42 AMThe only 300 primary's people use are VoC and fatebringer. Because they are elemental and the perks and stats are good on them.
-
I use my praedyths revenge for pvp and my atheons epilogue for vog
-
Fatebringer is still surprisingly relevant. The rest, though, I agree. They'll underperform.
-
Yeah it is crazy my calling is 300 And my badger is 343 with glass, explosive rounds, and firefly that can put out 1046 on headshots with 160 explosive damage and 45 from glass not to mention 1000 in aoe Hell you can shoot the ground and take a quarter health off when their behind cover . Took me 6 mins with it to kill 26 phogath on the weekly solo. But weapons like voc they can put out insane dps.So the 340 plus weaps do 250 dps while voc puts out 540 dps So its actually still a much better choice Its deceiving Would be nice if weapons were rated by dps not damage Cause a 5 shot 333 damage hand cannon Vs a full auto 300 damage auto rifle Who would win? Its misleading

A lot of the 300 damage weapons are simply better than the 331 counterparts. Killing mobs isn't always the work of maths. Yes on a single target over a length if time it may be a higher value but unless you're not always plugging away at the same rate at every target with the same weapons.
-
Because my VoC burns through a wizards shield saving and exotic slot for my IB which I then place headshots on said wizard. And also does more than Another NITC which is maxed. That's about the only 300 weapon I use anymore. Unless I'm in crucible.
-
Because some of the 300 guns are still really awesome. Vision of confluence, and fate bringer.
-
Fatebringer is king that's why.
-
Mostly because I haven't found any 331 attack primary weapons I really like. The arc damage raid scout rifle looks interesting though, but I haven't gotten it yet.
-
One word. Fatebringer

Edited by FIRE WRAITH 01: 1/25/2015 5:01:34 PMThe "damage" number on a weapon just indicates what level enemy you will be doing the max possible damage to. IMPACT is the actual "damage" stat (with Range being the falloff indication) Hitting any enemy level 30 and lower with two different weapons (same type though), one having 331 and the other having 300, but the SAME IMPACT. They will be doing the same amount of damage to the chosen enemy.
-
Because voc and fatebringer are still so good
-
VoC...nuff said.
-
Cuz fatebringer.
-
Nightfall - Burns
-
Because i can! and I will almost always do better than people with their 331 weps. Just because they do less damage doesn't mean they are useless even if they do less damage.
-
as long as its not in nightfall or raid, i dont care got hog
-
The Supremacy.

Take VoC and abyss defiant. Both solar damage. With the slower rof perk on AD and the full auto on VoC they are similar. The damage per bullet on the VoC is higher, w a lower RoF and 6 fewer bullets. Scout rifles have a natural longer range. So i still use VoC if i want added range and have fewer enemies that I can headshot hunt. I can usually two-shot most enemies. Total damage per clip on the AD will be higher. I will use it for when I have high level or quantity enemies. For now certain weapons are relevant. Corrective measure, fatebringer, praydths revenge(pvp), found verdict (pvp) and VoC are a must own for players.

I use my 300 Shadow Price in the crucible all day. It's my anti-Vex Mythoclast weapon of choice. For PvE, you are absolutely right through. 331 or bust.
