300 Attack does NOT do full damage to lvl 30 enemies
Yea I know BUT FATEBRINGER!!!! That's probably fine for now but HoW will have 365 attack and in a month you'll be doing 30% less damage. Pretty substantial.
There are obviously a few exception such as Fatebringer in CE HM thralls or certain perks on some weapons. But all things being equal people should understand how damage works and more replies have clearly showed they don't.
Do your own research. Google it. Try it. You can probably get away with a 300 now, but with the expansion pack and 365 attack weapons, they will become obsolete doing 30% less damage (speculation). This started as an honest question, as I am new to the game and trying to figure things out, people seem to think I want to change the 2nd amendment and take away their Fatebringer.

I don't have a fire fly 331 so my Cryptich Dragon gets some play time still. My Alts still use 300s for the most part because I don't do anything hard with them. You don't need 331 for ROC or Daily and I share gear for Nightfalls anyways.

I still use 300 weapons on strike, either trying to level em up for oracle duty on VOG or just to change things up on RoC strikes ( I get bored of hearing the same gun noise ) I don't use 300 weapons on Crota if I can help it, my not completely upgraded IceBreaker is the only one I typically swap in either for ammo or the 250 damage difference on a crit over the maxed LDR isn't enough to not use it on Boomer duty

Yea, in a perfect world all my shit would be version 2.0 but i still hold on to the shadow price, comedian, TDYK(the best, love this gun). They are still useful in crucible. and while doing low level stuff, public events, bounties, that kind of stuff ya know

3 RepliesEdited by Jwodie: 1/25/2015 3:23:01 PMn hard mode raid. against 33 thralls/acolytes fatebringer only does 20 some odd damage less than 331 word of crota raid hand cannon.. until you get abyss defiant you don't have a 331 solar primary option and that solar can save you in hard mode against wizards when you don't have the special ammo. and some people don't play as much as the rest of us and don't have 15 331 weapons to choose from.

Dude... People still using Vision of Confluence in the Crota raid... So even though it does 300 damage? I say it's still pretty good.

Fatebringer is the only one still getting rotation. VoC in Vault of Glass too. It's a shame that two such great weapons are becoming outdated, but that's how it goes I guess.

You have to take into account mag size/reload speed, damage output, precision damage output and most of all impact. Mag size and reload is important to see dps which is much more important in most cases than large output of damage at once with a few exceptions.

Because voc is better than an stock scout rifle and i still kill more enemies in raids than people with 331 weapons

5 RepliesNone of the stock pistols come close to my 300 lord high fixer, or my red hand. I still get a lot of use from my 300 Ghellons demise as well until I replace it with saterinne rapier. Until I saved the marks for a 331 upgrade, my 300 vanquisher viii outperformed all of the stock auto rifles by far, with vanguards "up for anything" being the only half decent alternative. With a few exceptions, most of the new stock weapons are horrible compared to the better old weapons. I still frequently use my old zombie apocalypse too.

Just making sure. Very helpful post, just want the most accurate data possible. Try a 300 primary against a 331 primary, make sure to use the compare button to be sure the impact is exactly the same

Most of the new 331 weapons have so little impact that you can't stagger your enemy at all. So while a 300 weapon does less damage, it does stagger the enemy and as such leaves them defenseless to shoot back. That's why everyone is still using them.

I use all 300 vog weapons. They are elemental and do almost as much as new weapons. Fatebringer and word of crota re so close in damage its not really noticeable

Shadow Price still hits hard. No new Vanguard or Crucible auto rifles can compete with it
