I know I'm going to get a lot of hate because my opinion is different than the general census, but I feel someone needed to say it.
The Elder Scrolls has been in my life since I was old enough to read, it's been my favourite series since forever, I completed each game multiple times, read the misc books, 100% completed the all (main and side quests) and I loved talking about the series with people I chilled with online
All of a sudden, skyrim drops. The ES universe becomes flooded with a mainly kid-fan base, people don't even refer to it as elder scrolls anymore, the sequels are now being anticipated as 'Skyrim 2'
Anyways, my venting aside, Skyrim was dry. The universe was empty, lifeless. A massive war with no fighting unless you do the quest line. Compared to Oblivion, where the universe was filled with life, people with unique personalities, random towns and people spanning the mountains with interesting quest chains with in-depth stories
After 100% Skyrim on my Mage build, I had 224 hours played on that character, and I was bored most of it. After 100% oblivion, I had 3,452 hours played on my Mage, and I'm going in for another play through.
Anyways, Skyrim did show some fun events, and the story had a good first playthrough, and it wasn't bad, I just feel like the franchise is dying.
Any old time ES fans share the same view/a different one? Please, have atleast played 3 ES games before you call me a dumbass.

I got started in skyrim, and I freaking love the game. When I realized that it was part of a larger series, I was like 'shit, I'm doing this wrong.' I looked up the previous games, mainly morrowind and oblivion and I've found that in my opinion, skyrim has made the series turn for the better. Not ESO though. ESO sucks.

I've been playing TES almost 18 years and I sort of agree. TES: Skyrim is off the path as compared to Oblivion and Morrowind and did bring a flood of new fanboys, but that just means there's more people to enjoy the beauty that is The Elder Scrolls universe. Regardless we still have that abomination known as ESO.

Edited by Deleted235708: 3/13/2015 1:15:08 PMI completely agree with you about the thought process of the new players is really annoying that they don't even know what The Elder Scrolls is besides Skyrim.
-
I loved it only ES I've ever played though so I can't relate soz.
-
I enjoyed skyrim though must say I have only gotten half way through dawn guard and not even touched the two other DLCS whereas I have played through Oblivion at least 7 times and each time run into new towns quests items etc I'm not going to state oblivion is better as a fact but for me personally Oblivion was the better game that offered more.

2 RepliesI loved it, but i don't have the nostalgia factor or past experience, (skyrim was my first and only es) that you do. Oblivion may very well be better, but i dont know. Sorry to hear you didn't like it.
-
1 ReplyI find the difference in the amount of time it took to 100% mind boggling o.o

I've played since Daggerfall, and got Arena when it came out for free a year or two ago. I honestly think that Morrowind is the game I had the most fun with, but Skyrim was better.
-
2 RepliesHaven't played any other Elder Scroll games except Skyrim but I felt the same. Skyrim did feel very empty and lifeless.
-
Nah man, that's Arena's job, and Oblivion is worse, too.
-
Does it really matter. We all know the elder scrolls is better than destiny. Now that is a fact
-
Don't worry guys. The ESO is gonna bring back
-
4 RepliesLol. Skyrim is objectively the best in the series. Anyone who disagrees is a nostalgiafag.
I had 3,452 hours played on my Mage
...

6 RepliesPlayed since Morrowind and Skyrim by far was the best. I have no idea what you're talking about.
-
All of its bad in general
-
5 RepliesIt's the best. Oblivion was meh, and morrowind would be awesome but it had NO OBJECTIVE MARKERS
-
3 RepliesReasons why Skyrim is the best: 1. Now collected over 3000 plates 2. Literally had to drop everything to compensate for the plates 3. Almost 1000 cheese 4. Robbed every stronghold 5. Like, everyone 6. And almost everyone in little towns 7. I recently made a mountain of plates/cheese 8. I'm so lonely 9. Someone date me

Edited by Chaos-Butler: 3/12/2015 6:15:28 PMI will agree with you to a point. I personally thought Oblivion was the best Elder Scroll game followed closely by Morrowind. I did like Skyrim but felt it went away from its RPG roots. They made it easier to play and personally that bothered me that they would sacrifice an in depth system in favor of making it easier for everyone to play. After all is said and done I don't think the franchise is dying..in fact I say it's never been more popular. That in itself could be the problem. As the product gets more popular it becomes more and more mainstream which is sad for the fans who have been around since before Morrowind.

10 RepliesOblivion sounds fun but it costs $ that I don't have :/
-
2 RepliesI've never heard anyone say "Skyrim 2"
-
Sad thing is, you're not wrong. But the Skyrim late bloomers that hopped on the fan wagon with Skyrim wouldn't know that.
-
I've played since daggerfall and i see where he is getting at my personal favorite is morrowind
-
4 RepliesI enjoyed Skyrim. I couldn't think of how many hours I put into that game
-
I've played all of them and loved them. I do disagree and feel skyrim was the best, if not best single player rpg I've ever played. But opinions are like buttholes right?

2 RepliesI love Skyrim and Morrowind. ELDER SCROLLS 6 PLS
