Since it's still in prototype stage (something Machinima doesn't seem to comprehend). It personally was a great thing. What microsoft showed was enough to garner the interest of everyone on stage and after the windows 10 event it has been said that people who used it hands-on on where suprised to how responsive and amazing the device was. It seems that while the hololens have Social and other more beneficial goals (The NASA partnership), Gaming isn't out of the equation, i see something similar like Illumiroom (Another Microsoft project that people loved) to mix up with playing on PC or on Xbox One. I mean during the video presentation they showed minecraft being made as a hologram, imagine what would it be like if you're playing halo and with the hololens you can see random areas of the map you're playing on, or the Tom Clancy's the Division hologram map that players have at their disposal constructed in a matter of seconds in your own living room. I have the typical skepticism with this new technology, but it has the potential to not only make our lives easier but much more interesting.
