Big fan of scout rifles.
Just wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to get the Fang of Ir Yut in hard mode CE. If so, what does that perk actually do?!?
Description says "enemies hit by this weapon are briefly highlighted". What kind of benefit is that?!?
Edit:
So... Apparently, the main idea is you can see their outline through the walls (just like the enemy that kills you during the kill cam / respawn screen) so you can predict their movement and react accordingly.
Coupled with an always on radar, that IS pretty cool! Thanks!
Edit #2:
Necro Thread!
Also, I got it wrong: "briefly highlighted" is just a glow above enemy heads (much like the confusion effect from Saint-14), not a red outline that can be seen through walls.
Still a very well balanced and efficient weapon... apparently! Hope Crota will be kind enough to let me have it this week. Word of Crota is nice (especially on this week's Heroic Strike), but... It's not a scout rifle!

The mark works really well for the Swordbearer when fighting Crota.

9 RepliesEdited by xpctR3sistanc3: 2/7/2015 9:37:11 AMIt puts a green beacon shooting out of the head of the one you shot. If an ad runs & hides, you/team can spot it - useful situations that come to mind: Strike bosses + Templar.

1 ReplyBoth of crota weapons suck a dick!! Auto rifle is only good thing from hard raid.
-
12 RepliesFang is garbage compared to the vision
-
1 ReplyYou cannot see enemies through walls, you are way off there. They just get a green glow around them when you hit them

Near instant reload perk > target mark. Only instance I see it being useful is to mark swordbearer because he hides behind the rocks.
-
It just puts a little marker over their head
-
i got the upgrade and have never equipped it. ive seen it in action and seems pointless. rather have a quick reload
-
It's a good rifle that's for sure. Fire rate is SLIGHTLY slower than I'm used to but the damage is higher so that evens out. That perk is interesting but I'll probably use it in PvP as a tester. Nice rifle and Arc damage is great.

Planet destiny may have a review up for it

Guy I run with has it. It's pretty useless. It puts like a little green flame over the targets head. It doesn't last very long and it isn't visible behind obstructions. Can't really think of any situation where it'd be super useful.

Edited by Shiver: 2/7/2015 10:45:26 AMMy theory is that, that weapon will be essential in the HOW DLC because think about it, if we are fighting fallen in the next raid no doubt they will use mass cloaking and maybe even the final boss will use long rang teleporting in combination with cloaking. This will for sure make the fang essential in this new raid.

Only use I can think of is target the swordbearer as he is a sneaky little shit. Some think that it's for the invisibles in the house of wolves dlc
-
It's just a green little light over there head. Really not that awesome. I use spray and play over it 150% of the time

5 RepliesEdited by Found_Verdict: 1/22/2015 5:38:52 AMPretty sure it's similar to the "killcam" when you're killed by one of the non-guardian enemies. they're highlighted thru walls. Havent tried it tho so i cant confirm
-
It was made to target the swordbearer. Any other uses are a bonus
-
13 Replieswhy is it that so many people cannot see the forest for the trees? highlighting the enemy, allows your TEAM to focus fire. how many times in the omnigal strike do you lose omnigal when there are four other wizards out. By highlighting her your team can shoot her and not waste time looking through all the wizards. Or if multiple of the same major bosses are around.. you can help the team focus on one at a time. Think outside the box.

1 ReplyFeel it should be buffed with a debuff of some sort. Like a 1% increase to all incoming damage.

Edited by Dic3man: 2/7/2015 9:33:16 AMYeah its the most useless perk you could think of, they were probably drunk when they came up with it. It will never have any use whatsoever, Its basically as useful as a shoot to loot perk on a one magazine rocket launcher. Stealth vandals, pleeeeease that is a terrible argument.
-
It's good for that annoying sword bearer on Crota boss who hides all the -blam!-ing time!
-
Its a pretty underwhelming perk
-
1 ReplyStealth vandals in HoW is a reasonable assumption as to why it's offered.

Edited by Peter Quill GOTG: 2/7/2015 9:14:35 AMIm was thinking that when the target is marked teammates to additional damage to enemies
-
4 RepliesTracking does NOT project through walls. Leaves a green are line above marked enemies head. Dumb perk. Have to maintain field of view with marked enemy. Lame perk
-
Could be good. If every time you shot a marked enemy it didn't reset the mark.
-
Might be useful in HoW for pinpointing stealth vandals
