I'm a girl and I'm against feminism. I think it sends the wrong message. I don't want to treat a girl like a princess. I want to treat her like everyone else.

Wait-wait-wait, you're a girl?
-
-
Hmm :/
-
You didn't know that?
-
The point of feminism is for women to be treated like everyone else. Also you're pretty ungrateful if you're a woman and you're against feminism. You have so many privileges that you take for granted that you wouldn't have without feminism.
-
Feminists won't even let women speak their mind. I'm done.
-
Gawd this bitch is everywhere. get out of my life!!!
You have so many privileges that you take for granted that you wouldn't have without feminism.
You said the correct term there, privilege, special treatment because she's a woman. Ain't that against was feminist are for, which is gender equality?
-
No, I'm referring to things such as the "right" to vote. I'm referring to the rights that women have gained because of feminism, rights that men already had. However, as George Carlin put it, "They're not rights if they can be taken away, they're privileges." I am in no way speaking of this "special treatment" thing men seem to think feminists want.
-
I believe the right to vote was do to the national woman's suffrage association or was it american woman's suffrage association, it's been decades since my 2nd grade class so I'm a little hazy on the memory. Either way the right to vote is due to the N(A)WSA, which was over a decade before the feminism movement. You could say that's they were the precursor to feminists, but you have to be distinct about who accomplish what. Now if we are using the words the almighty George Carline, phrases be unto him, that term of privilege is used towards the government, that they can remove our rights. If you want a better use of the good sir's words here: "women are crazy, and men are stupid. And the reason women are crazy is because men are stupid." Carline wasn't the biggest supporter of feminism, but was fair to his points.
-
Yeah, I guess you can say I am.
-
If you think feminism comes down to treating women like princesses you're really not following
-
But then you see some feminists do exactly that, and then some other act hostile. Now your counter argument would be to say; they are radicals or they give us a bad name. But they still hold the banner of feminism. Feminists are as high as their highest and low as their lowest. Hard to promote your cause if your cause giving mixed messages.

So by that logic, all Christians can be represented by members of the Westboro Baptist Church. That's a good idea, representing bodies of people by their extremes.
-
Yes. And the pope took action on them by excommunicating the pastor Fred phelps. Not a fan of Catholicism, but that pope is doing them justice.
-
That's hardly fair at all. Why should my feminism be undermined by the actions of those over which I have no influence? It would be like judging all Muslims on the extremists (not beyond this forum...)
-
It's not and those muslim extremists have done exactly that to those who try living a normal life. And I haven't seen a single Muslim isn't extremely bitter by their actions. Some have rallied against their wacko brethren to fix that same issue.
-
Nonetheless, you can hardly blame 1.6 billion for the actions of a few.

-
Then that's their mistake and their problem.
-
Which then in turn is the oppositions problem. It's that point of view that harms both sides.
