I came to ps4 recently from XB One and I just started raising again. Got the Vex and VoC on my first raid. Just wondering if anyone thinks the VoC is still pretty usable considering everything else you can get goes up to 331. I'll probably level the Vex later when I'm done with other stuff but I'd like some input on VoC as far as Crota's End goes and such.

I have two finished VoC, ghorns and working on my second black hammer and I absolutely love the set up and use it 50% of the time. It's so nice not having to transfer weapons every time I change characters. Worth hanging onto and a great all aroud primary. Ghorn and ruin wings are unfair in pve though

Works just fine in normal Crota's end just fine. Not sure how it will perform in hat though
-
Yes it is still astoundingly useful
-
Absolutely

Voc is quite good still. I call it my mini Suros. Just fires slower and hits harder with more stability. Also quite good for solar shields and solar burn of course. Wizards lose their shields quite fast and then they go into panic mode most of the time lol.
-
Yes, very.
-
Doesn't go to 331 I thought?

Its great for solar burn and the ocassional fire shield, but pretty much any of the vendor rifles will preform better. VoC really just doesn't have that great of perks.

11 RepliesAttack value isn't actually the amount of damage the weapon will do, that value is the weapons impact. Attack value is the percentage of impact (actual damage) the weapon will do. A 300 attack indicates the weapon will hit for 100% damage against level 30 enemies and below. Attack values of 331 will also hit for 100% against level 30 enemies. This means that VoG weapons will be as good as your 331 weapons in Nightfalls and Weekly strikes and in the first part of Crota's End. At the bridge enemies are leveled to 31 so you'll notice a decrease in damage, but at the lamps enemies are leveled to 30 so you won't see a decrease in damage. Crota's End on Hard and after the bridge in CE normal are the only places you wouldn't want to use VoG weapons but in everything else enemies are no higher than 30 so you're at no disadvantage using it, or any other 300 attack weapons. This is a good article to explain attack value better than I can do myself. http://www.tentonhammer.com/guides/destiny/destiny-weapon-guide-attack-and-impact

And remember you get about triple damage with a burn on the nightfalls my buddy used fatebringer this week and we dominated the nightfall...totally worth hanging on to IMO
-
Thanks for all the responses. I'll probably go ahead and level it up.
-
4 RepliesYes. There is only about a 15% damage difference between new and old guns.
-
use mine along with fatebringer in almost anything
-
VoC all day!
-
It's a good solid choice but slowly getting left behind. If the attack values rise again in March which I expect it will it'll be obsolete before long :( ....and that sucks

Viable everywhere, but not optimal beyond the bridge in CE normal. Enemey/activity tier is a guide to what wepaons are viable. 300 weapons are still excellent in any activity up to and including lvl 30. Even above that, your light level is usually going be the more impotant factor. VoC is a great gun and worth levelling for a variety of activities, but for CE, and CE hard you are going to want your new 331s. And once you get CE raid primaries then they will obvioulsy be your preference.

I use mine everyday and on all raids. Extremely viable still.
-
1 ReplyUse mine in every occasion, vog, crota, and more
-
1 ReplyOf course. It's still one of the best guns in the game

Edited by questioncom: 1/20/2015 12:38:16 AMOnly for nightfalls with solar burn
-
Use mine all the time!

It's ok. Perfect for nightfalls with fire burn and the VoG really. There are better scout rifles that deal more damage.
