If people understood what the attack value on weapons actually ment than more people wouldn't care about 331 VoG weapons. Attack value isn't how much damage the weapons do. Impact is the damage delt by weapons, while attack is the percentage of damage a weapon does on enemies. A 300 attack means a weapon will do 100% of its damage to level 30 enemies, a 331 attack means the weapon will do 100% of its attack to level 30 enemies. This means that 2 weapons with identical impact will do the same damage against all enemies level 30 and below regardless of being 300 or 331. VoG weapons are just as relevant in the Nightfall and Weeklies as CE weapons. The Ir thing in Destiny that VoG weapons aren't ideal for is CE past the lamps. In CE the weapons and armour all have perks better suited for that raid so you'd want to use CE gear in that raid anyway. Just like VoG weapons are better for the Vault than CE weapons would be. Instead of wasting time making a level 32 VoG we would be better off asking Bungie to make more styles of armour for the current CE raid so we can all wear new raid gear for the current raid and not all look the same.

This is true but you fail to see the big picture - as more DLC is released and the level caps (and base levels) rise, the weapons will become obsolete. We are merely asking that dlc adds new content rather than just being an expensive replacement for content they either remove or make obsolete

I also understand that raid weapons are designed for the raid you get them in. Most perks for VoG weapons are useless outside that raid, this means you will always want to use gear from the raid you are in.

  • Why have they never confirmed or explained this?

  •
Why have they never confirmed or explained this?
Probably for the same reason they have never explained anything, there are many articles online explaining it though. This link does a good job of breaking down weapon stats. VoG weapons are still very current in Destiny, but if the Nightfall and Weekly strike level is raised to 32 with the next expansion they will become useless. Although, by that time we'll have all the new CE weapons to play with.

  • I know this is old but that article has a lot of bad info in it. The general idea is good but the specifics are hit and miss
