Auto rifles in general. They are meant for those with low aim and low skill. This is not an insult to auto rifle users. This is the terminology used for the way you aim and play. A person like this would generically use a ar, shotty, and launcher.
Going off topic a little,
A person with high skill and aim would be good with a hand cannon, sniper, and machine gun typically.

Piss off you need a 2 shot weapon or an OP FR. There is a reason why AR have been the most popular weapon since WW1. Cause they do work, get over yourselves. If they gave back our 10% you whining Thorn/FR users would quit playing PVP. Your not better. Just a lot of -blam!-ing trolls. Find me sometime and I'll show how cool the game looks from the death screen. Digital Pipe Syndicate - taking FPS skills to planetside, where it actually matters. \~~~/ \__/

Agreed. Plus AR users need the bullet hoses to throw off their opponents aim. They need all the help they can get.
-
Thank you sir. I have gotten so much hate on this post, and half of them have many auto rifle kills.....
-
I use auto rifles just because I have fun with them but hand cannons are my favorite weapons probably......my friends were getting mad with me and rage quiting because I killed them with atheon epilogue a bunch and shooting them with snipers at close range
-
Lol, "this is not an insult, but ARs are for players with low skill"
-
Dead wrong. It takes more skill to land seven headshots for a kill than two.
-
Land 7 headshots out of 20 versus 2 out of 2 ok.
-
What gun carries 2 shots in the clip? Please try using any auto rifle in the game vs a good Thorn player.
-
You said a good thorn player. 1 thorn is an exotic. It's a cheap hand cannon. Someone with real skill would use a pulse, scout, or regular hand cannon and not need an exotic weapon to be good with it 2 suros could take Thorn, so could red death. If the user is good enough.

Edited by Lib3ralwithaGun: 1/19/2015 10:56:23 PMIt takes skill to use auto rifles in this game, ESPECIALLY since the exotic buffs, and the auto rifle nerf that happened months ago. The only strength most auto rifles have over other primaries is that they don't need to reload as often. Most other primaries kill you quicker but have to reload more often. I am seeing a lot less auto rifle users in Crucible and a lot more handcannon users. take it for what you will, but I think it's because people are realizing it takes far less shots to get a kill with those weapons and are always using the cheapest versions of them (Thorn, Last Word, etc) Auto rifles are better at cleaning up other's kills and getting assists because of the rate of fire, but they can't keep up with someone who uses a good handcannon many times unless they get the sights on them first. I main auto rifles. Trust me. They take no less skill to use than any other weapon. People who say that are just getting killed by auto rifle users and bitching about not being able to 2 or 3 shot them first with another weapon.
-
Lol..........
-
Not true, most auto rifles have high recoil which make them harder to aim.
-
Well I use Eidellon Ally, LDR 5001, and deviant gravity MG. My personal opinion High fire rate AR require the MOST skill
-
So you need to throw off someone's aim to win a firefight? So skilled.
-
You just keep on whining don't you.. High fire rate ar's are pretty hard at medium range..
I always use a hand canon
-
Of course they're bad for farther ranges. That's like saying "oh shotguns aren't cheap because they can't be used at scout rifle range"
-
... I can't even.. your logic hurts my brain
-
Too tough to follow, sorry. You (or whoever) said bullet hose type auto rifles aren't good at a certain range, arguing that they take skill because they're difficult to use outside of their extended range. It was a weak argument so I came back at it with the same (albeit exaggerated) argument.
-
Well yes but ar's are mid to close range. But a lot of people use those high fire rate ones at medium range and still are decent. I think that is pretty hard
-
They're designed for mid to close range, genius. The high rof ones have less range. Again, this goes back to trying to say a shotgun is difficult to use at scout rifle range. Odd course it is, it's outside of its intended range. Inside of its intended range, however, it's easy to use

This is true. High rof autos take more skill than even pulse rifles imo.
-
You still have to aim and get consecutive headshots. Any auto rifle can be outmatched by any handcanon. Your logic is beyond flawed.
-
How many ar nerds have there been? And then think how many hand cannon nerds have happened and tell me my logic is still flawed.
-
Because people don't like handcanons as much as auto simple as that. You don't go on CoD and call everyone a noob for using an auto and not a pistol.
