Best exotics and why only a few are worth the slot.
If you ask me exotics should all perform well above legendary weapons. I have ghorn, suros, vex, ice breaker, hard light, the last word, red death, plan c, dragons breath, mida, patience and time, no land beyond, and a couple of others I cant recall from memory. Out of all exotics only a few really warrant the exotic slot. Suros, Vex, Ghorn, Ice Breaker, and Patience and time. I know there are many others but what exotics do you keep equipped and why? When bungie makes an exotic it should be worth the spot and then depending on your play style you should pick which suits you. Instead it seems as though only a handful are worthy of being equipped and then the majority adapt their play style to fit the weapon. I would like to know what the community uses on a daily basis and occupies their exotic weapon slot.

I now use last word gjhallahorn and icebreaker (since there the only ones I have). I got icebreaker from Xur, got gjhallahorn from nightfall and last word from Xur lol

Hawkmoon is my main exotic, I very rarely use anything else in PVP or PVE.

2 Replieswhy the hell suros? its not significantly better than your average legendary autorifle, the only thing thats kinda nice is the chance to restore health for the bottom half of the mag.

Pocket Infinity in PvP. Rips faces!! Totally worth an exotix slot with my Vanquisher VIII (basically a legendary Suro) and any high impact, slower firing HMG.

Just because it is exotic, which is defined as: very different, strange, or unusual; doesn't mean it should be better. Exotics are meant to be unique weapons with their own special, or unusual characteristics. Too many people misconstrue this meaning and get confused why are there legendary weapons that are superior to exotics? There is no "exotic" slot. Some exotics are amazing, Ice Breaker, Gjallarhorn, Vex etc and some that are just terrible, No Land Beyond, Universal Remote etc. Some exotics have fantastic perks, like Ammo regen, Wolf Pack rounds, go invis while ADS. No legendary has any kind of perk like this. Legendary weapons have perks to help you kill everything. Once you realize exotic does equal best, it makes more sense. Mostly I run Icebreaker, Gjallarhorn or Thorn.

Depends on the situation... I usually put an exotic in a slot that my weapons are lacking.. mostly solar secondary and heavy.. so it's a lot of icebreaker and dragons breath at the moment. If I'm leveling other guns I'll rock suros

2 RepliesOn the regular it's Ghorn and vex but I been using red death and mida a lot more as well they are really good. Red death perk is amazing and will bring Heath up fast. But this is for non boss stuff. In raids it's fatebringer, black hammer, Ghorn. Or fatebringer, icebreaker, hunger of crota.

On the reg I use ice breaker and thorn/bad juju Heavies I really only mess with thunder lord but I'm leveling dragons breath (since I'm still ghorn less 600+ hours in haha) All the exotic fusion rifles are pretty much worthless thanks to murmur

4 RepliesOn a daily basis, only Ghorn & Icebreaker. P&T comes out for Arc Nightfalls and I don't really use Vex Myth much. Hawkmoon was really good until I got Fatebringer so never use that now. Suros is alright, but only use it rarely as I prefer Hand Cannons & Scout Rifles. Working on Bad Juju now that I've got Obsidian Mind maxed, that combo looks insane!

As a titan even tho I use my saints helm for certain encounters like lamp part in CE, majority of the rest of the time I use ruin wings, it works really good when having a Ghorn.

Gjallarhorn and icebreaker. Used to use suros all the time, and plan c for arc burn. Mythoclast/thorn/truth for pvp.

1 ReplyNow that I got the super good advice bounty, finally, when I finish it I will have every exotic weapon in the game. I use hawkmoon, thorn, last word, suros, ice breaker, and gjallarhorn and that's about it. Hawkmoon for life.

2 RepliesP&T is goo I just wish it was a little better so I could use it more. It doesn't have anything over icebreaker except for stability and praedyths is just as good and doesn't require an exotic slot. Even LDR 5001 with firefly is just as good

pve: all I use is gjallarhorn unless trying to level something else. pvp: hawkmoon and truth. I have a lot of really well rolled legendaries that are better than their exotic counter parts for pvp. I just switch depending on if the map I'm on is a good hawkmoon map (most are).

I use my Hawkmoon and "No Backup Plans", I think the gloves aren't really THAT special, but they change the character in interesting ways, makes the playing as Titan more fun. :)

1 ReplyRed death on my hunter, it's good in PvE and can get you some fun streaks in crucible. Though my hunter also carries I'm exotic snipers and bad juju depending on the situation. My Titan is still a fresh toon so he usually keeps my invective close by, though he has both of my 300 Suros. My lock has all of my HCs ATM, last word and thorn in particular.

Exotics are not meant to be overpowered, instead they are supposed to make the game fun.

4 RepliesIt honestly depends. If you play pvp almost every exotic is worth using. Except save heavies imo. in pve is where it really thins the numbers on what's worth it. And even though i don't own a ghorn yet I bet it's hard to decide what's worth using over it in pve.

1 ReplyI would say 80% of the time i use ghorn but i have some really good legendary items from leveling vanguard that have good perks that let me keep it in use. Otherwise i really enjoy using VMC, thorn or soros regime.
