My third character was a female, just for the hell of it.
I liked the idea of a female tank (Titan) in this universe. The real world and most art is inundated with comical representations of masculinity (the grizzled soldier, etc). It's tired and boring. I ran Mass Effect as female Shepard, too. I don't identify with my female character any more or less than I identify with an Exo Hunter or an Awoken Warlock. I view the characters as characters and not an extension of my sexuality.
I think it's weird that you think it's weird, quite honestly. Speaks to an abnormal projection of oneself on their character. Seek help.
