Me and friends were running cortas end and we got a level 30 but he had no mic, was still using a uncommon lmg (didnt change it, had no idea what he was doing and we couldnt tell him so we had to kick him, my friend felt it was a jerk move but i am not sure because he was weighing us down badly
EDIT: over 400 replies wow

Of course

Yes it's a jerk move, that is if they know what they are doing. You definitely do not need a mic in most games.
-
Ran both raids without a mic. As long as you listen, know what you are doing and have decent kit then most people are cool with it. If a person is actively dragging down the team, mic or no mic or is using substandard gear, then I can understand wanting to kick them.
-
Usually if a person doesn't have a mic, but can hear us, there is different ways to communicate a plan... ie dancing, pointing and such. I've run raids before with the mic-less and hasn't been much of a big deal just a speed bump. Experience is key with a player that doesn't mic up tho... Nothing can replace that.

Boot all with no mic. My creedo
-
I have no mic but I listen. Got kicked here and there
-
In general, see how they do before kicking them. I've done a VoG run without a mic. I ended up quitting because the other people were so bad. :P

1 ReplyDepends. If its like hard crota, you need to watch them. Communication is key. I know from experience some rando with no mic comes in, takes the sword and immediatly attempts to hit crota with it before taking shields down. I myself have not had good experiences with kids that dont have mic. Nothing personal. I just wanna finish the raid and not wipe 50 times cuz you cant hear us, and we cant hear you
-
no if not having a mic is apparently an issue, yes if the person without a mic has shown no performance issues without being able to talk and only able to hear *Ive personally ran VoG HM without a mic up to Atheon CP , (I left so they could find someone who could talk, which was already pre agreed upon prior to launch of raid)*

The only time it sucks is when the raid party is using crap strats and wiping. By the time i make party chat so i can explain a better way people are leaving or blaming the guy with no mic.
-
Not in your case.
-
God no. It would probably be easier to five man it than with a no mic 30 with a -blam!-ing green mg. He was begging for a kick
-
-
It is if that is the sole reason you are kicking for. Every single raid I have completed has been done without a mic. I can hear audio and we've won just fine. Nobody had any problems with me not having a mic because we still had ways to communicate and I had the experience anyway.
-
1 ReplyMy mic broke 3 days before hard mode came out. I haven't tried hard mode because you do need communication. Normal Crota's end, or any VOG as a 32 you'd be crazy to kick if they know what they're doing on their own
-
A little, you can send him a message stating you need a mic and ask him to leave if he doesn't, if he doesn't leave kick him
-
2 RepliesEdited by Schuzzle6utt: 2/6/2015 8:54:18 PMCommunication is a necessity in raids. Whenever I post in the recruitment forums I explicitly state that you must have a mic. I don't even care if you know what you're doing or not, I just want to be able to talk back and forth so everyone is clear on t what their role is.
-
**** no! Communication is key to winning in pve
-
No its not a jerk move its 10$ at a electronic store for a simple xbox mic or like 5$ online
-
No your friend is a cherry for believing that. Communication is key to pass advice and ensure everyone is in the same page. No worries you keep kicking non responsive players out.
-
I have a guy who regularly plays with me on VoG and Crota who has no mic. He joins the chat party anyway so he can hear whats going on and what is required of him. If a player with no mic doesn't join the chat party then fair enough kick them
-
1 ReplyEdited by Taggin T: 2/6/2015 8:47:20 PMNo. To run raids you require communication. No mic is an automatic boot from my fireteam. No exceptions. Besides I'm on Xbox One. The system freaking comes with a mic. There's no reason as to not having one.
-
2 RepliesAnd they are useless, I'll say "don't jump down" and the kid that can't hear will jump down with me and I'll be like "are you -blam!-ing kidding me"
-
6 RepliesEdited by iMortal GhosTz: 2/6/2015 8:22:16 PMNow when I run VoG, I use universal remote, secret handshake, and hunger of crota...I cant tell you how many times I have been kicked. It looks like I don't have a mic because I stay in party chat with my friends. I am level 32 with a pretty high grimoire too
-
No because they can't protest without a mic😂
