What's with gravity being universal throughout the galaxy?

How am i able to jump just as high on Earth and the Moon? Now, movies and science have thus far, led me to believe that gravity on earth is greater than that on the moon. However, Destiny scraps that rediculous notion... "Of course you can jump universally high throughout the galaxy! It must be some left over whatnots from the Golden Age, y'know...they terraformed and made artificial gravity and jazz like that." Ok, i can buy that - but its kinda comic book writing lazy. Would be nice to see some difference throughout the galaxy, it would give a definite feel to a planet if certain aspects of the planet affected the way you fight. Ah, it doesn't really matter or affect my enjoyment but still... why can't i moon jump? (and WHY was the Archon Priest allowed his weapon when he was imprisoned?!")
