Pathetic, none of you are legit raiders
At least many of you. How do I know? I posted for a crota fresh run for anyone not wearing vanguard or faction gear aka gear given to you by bungie allowing you to skip the atheon raid. It's been 30 minutes and only person who joined is wearing full faction gear lmao my posts have slowly gotten more douche baggy over the weeks. Adding more restrictions each week and this restriction was the first that couldn't be even close to being met.
If you have 3 different classes and have a piece of vangaurd or faction gear ok w/e but if you have 2 of the same class you should have full raid gear for atheon or iron banner lvl 30 gear if you have been playing remotely consistently (say 1 raid every 2 weeks from launch) and if you bought vangaurd/faction gear as a level 30 (annd weren't the sword bearer) you wasted your time.

The question
If you were lvl 30, pre crota, and you weren't a sword guy, why take 4 steps backwards (4 pieces of vangaurd or faction gear) when you can simply do ce at your current lvl 30 and achieve lvl 31 via 1 single piece of raid armor from the new raid ?

At no point did I say to put your vog gear back on geniuses. I'm showing how vangaurd and faction gear is utterly pointless.
1 piece of raid gear gets you from 30 to 31 and maxes at 32
3 pieces of vangaurd gear gets you to lvl 31 and maxes at 31
So if you were your average 30, getting lvl 31 through vangaurd or faction was pointless.

Mostly done responding to this post. I'm an ass yea but half a dozen people below all dropped their tag for me or asked for mine because they know I won't waste their time and wipe several dozen times per checkpoint.
Are you bad for wearing vangaurd gear? No, but it says a lot about you depending on your playtime. Good luck scrub raiders who can't hang !

If you only got 1 or 2 pieces of CE gear, then how would you possibly expect to have all the shards needed to max it? The gear is easy enough to get. Do the raid twice and you'll have 3 pieces easy. But those shards took me 12 raids to compile, and that was with sharding all the duplicate gear for my second warlock instead of gearing it up too...

I have a vanguard helmet. But that's because I want to wear my exotic gauntlets rather than and exotic helm and my raid gauntlets. Otherwise, I would just look like everyone else. (Crota gear. I also have full VOG gear but I'll be using that on my alt)

Edited by Tolschy: 1/18/2015 12:40:04 AMDo you just overlook the fact that vanguard gear gives more defense than vog raid gear or are you just completely arrogant?...do you just go through the raid and the first piece of raid gear for a slot you get is the only one that you'll use? There's this really neat thing called Stat prioritizing. Some of us had terrible luck with vog so we got better stats via the vanguard gear. You shouldn't of wanted them to not have vanguard gear, you should of had a number of raid completions as a requirement rather than being a complete idiot about the situation.

Re: edit 2... The answer is simple: materials. Those of us who have played regularly had an abundance of ascendant materials and Marks at the dlc drop. So one could easily buy a couple pieces of vanguard gear, level and upgrade without problem. Radiant materials took at least two weeks to get enough to even upgrade one piece of raid gear, let alone one for each character. So, quicker solution was just to buy vanguard gear until raid gear and materials were available.

One piece of ce raid gear and one "new" exotic. I bought vanguard gear to hit 31 making ce easier, as I raided week one when most of us had little idea on what we were supposed to expect. Also, who cares? Many raiders were ready to level factions day one, and gear maxes with only a days worth of bounties.
