In Halo 2 you had to fight Brutes wielding Shotguns & Rocket Launchers, but in Halo 3 there are no Brutes with Human weapons at all. I'm not saying anything against Halo 3 I'm just saying why wasn't it brought over. Tell me what you think.
Posted by: Quarterkue
Posted by: SD2522 My guess is that the shotgun reminded the Brutes of their Maulers back in the day, then when they took over the Elites positions they reintegrated their weapons into the Covenant arsenal.
This has made the most sense to me throughout this entire thread. Afterall, the Brutes are very primitive when it comes to weaponry. Their ways have not evolved as other Covenant species or humanity. I think a reason that would fit in the storyline of Halo is that the Prophet recruited the Brutes late before Halo 2 took place. Of course, I haven't read any of the books, but it would make sense considering Bungie didn't give them their own 'brute' weapons until Halo 3.
Primitive & barbaric when it comes to weaponary don't you mean.

Check out my trophy shot, the Brute Banshee pilots on The Covenant carry BR's.

Know that you say that I just noticed that the other day. When I was playing Halo 2 , I was looking at some of the old maps and how they changed and I played campaign towards the end and they do have shottys. It would of been a cool feature to see aliens pick up human weapons in halo 3 maybe it'll happen in a new halo that will come up! You never know!
Posted by: Omegakie I swear once on crows nest when asked to kill the brutes in the hanger. one of the brutes shouted grenade when i had no shield left so i thought it's only a spike i can kill him but then randomly he threw a frag and i was like WTF?. my theories were eithier glitch in game or a dud frag that randomly blew up next to me.
It was either a glitch or a Marine happened to throw a grenade. A simarler glitch is on Halo 2 when you might get a Sentinal shoot you with Needle fire.
Posted by: GruntSquash What if the Brute army on that ring was the only one that bothered to try out human weapons? It would have made sense in the base on Earth but i doubt that the Brutes managed to capture any marines on the Ark
Sorry didn't see your post. That's quite a good point, but I think some Brutes in High Charity used Human weapons as well.
Posted by: ODST Recruit Oh I see. The Brutes did use inferior weapons in Halo 2 though I don't think you read my OP, I did say the Brutes used Human weapons in Halo 2.
I read it. That's called a lack of continuity in the storyline and no reasonable explanation can be provided. I just brought my aspect for what's the case in Halo 3, if you know what I mean.

It's also a matter of opinion. Some says the UNSC weapons are better and some prefer Covenant/Brute weapons.
Oh I see.
Posted by: Mysten The Brutes were a late addition to Halo 2, I'm sure Bungie would have given them a full set of Brute weaponry if they had the time to do so. This wasn't the case in Halo 3.
Good point.

Its a humiliation tactic.

"Even as trophies, these weapons are useless" un-named halo 2 elite. the brutes used the humans shotgun until they could create their own, the mauler.
Posted by: JayMakay Well, I saw a Brute jump on a human machinegun and start firing it at the marines in Crows Nest.
I don't remember that. What difficulty were you on?
