I would choose the gun if I were you. Then use it in strikes and try to earn 13 more strange coins to buy the obsidian mind before he leaves. It took me 2 hour to earn 6 coins through 20 blue engrams from strike missions plus 3 from endgame reward, so I got 9 strange coins in two hours.
