is Thorn a good PvE weapon?
Using thorn as my primary. My only other exotic is P&T. So is Thorn a good PvE primary?

I've moved away from thorn as I got other exotics and Fatebringer, but it's still good. Piercing rounds and DoT are a mean combo. Plus you just have to tag a phalanx shield and wait, the DoT will stagger them if angry isn't on, makes life a bit easier doing patrols and story missions.

...it's not about Thorn being good or bad in PvE, it's more about "do you really want to sacrifice your Exotic slot to your primary?" (...one that doesn't even deal elemental damage?), thats imo the question you should ask yourself i know you only have P&T at the moment besides Thorn, but that will soon change and you'll realize why i said what i said ...Thorn is good in PvE, but not in end-game content such as Raids, Nightfalls etc. i've been in more than enough Hard Raids and NO ONE was using Thorn in those. reason? probably cuz you would almost ALWAYS want to use your exotic Special or Heavy, that's why. some may suggest Thorn deals a lot of damage, but so does almost every other handcannon in the game. i can do Patrols with ANY Green handcannon and do just fine, but im telling you now, you bring Thorn to Hard Crota's End and you're gonna regret itwithin first few minutes ;) again, this is not to say Thorn is bad gun, no no no, what i'm saying is - get your hands on some Legendary Handcannon and use that, keep your Exotic slot open for Special and Heavy weapons

I think it's one of the best PvE weapons in the game. One shot kill on basically every tier 1 enemy in the game, you can take knights out quickly, the residual damage perk is awesome. After using a maxed out Thorn, it's really hard to use anything else as a PVE weapon

If you can land precision shots + lingering damage, you'll take our enemy out faster.

ooooooooh yes! It is a damn good weapon for PVE. I always pull the most kills in strikes with it.

Yeah, even if you have ice breaker and gh, thorn is very useful in many situations

4 RepliesHand cannons typically aren't. Thorn could have some potential uses but typically at too much sacrifice of raw dps.

It's a beast... Large groups of thrall? One shit will kill 10... It over penetrates. Plus the damage over time is great.
