In this week's Weekly Update we saw a preview of things to come in the new Hard Mode for Crota's End. One of the most notable announcement were those of the new raid-specific primary weapons. Included in the listings was the Necrochasm, an exotic weapon that evolved from a common weapon (Husk of the Pit).
According to the image published by Bungie, we can see a fully upgraded Necrochasm with a max damage value of 331; akin to today's legendary and exotics. Prior to "The Dark Below" DLC, The Vex Mythoclast maximized it's damage value of 323, whilst other legendary and exotic weapons maxed out at 300. The increase in attack was due to the Vex Mythoclast being the most "difficult" weapon to obtain.
The Necrochasm will be the most "difficult" weapon to obtain, therefore it should receive the same benefits as it's predecessor, the Vex Mythoclast. The Vex had +23 attack over other legendary and exotic weapons. If the Necrochasm were to receive said boost, then the value would be 331 + 23 = 354
Makes sense right? Please remember that attack damage does not affect PvP.
Thank you for reading! Don't forget to leave a like, and some feedback thanks!
EDIT: to clear some arguments i'd like to state that the enemy combat level does not determine your attack output. The only factors that are taken into account are you current level, the weapon impact, attack value and rate of fire. The reason you do lower damage to higher leveled enemies is because of the level gap between the player and the enemy monster, with an array of other variables such as attack value, impact, etc... Depending on your own level, you would do the same damage to a level 1 Dreg in comparison to a level 20 Dreg.

Edited by Styxitenya: 1/27/2015 9:37:11 PMAs someone who got the Crux today and transformed their EA into a Necrochasm I can tell you that the damage is 339, not 331. Not a big deal, though. Considering this gun is very disappointing. I have been raiding the hard mode of VoG close to after it launched with two characters and still have not got a Mythoclast. So, you can understand that when I got the Crux today I was excited to finally have an exotic raid-exclusive weapon. That excitement quickly vanished once I tested this bad boy out. The thrall explosion perk is pretty much the only good thing about this weapon and that is if you are lucky enough to make it happen considering this unstable beast makes it hard to land the successive head shots required to trigger it as the impact is almost nonexistent. In PvE I would say the gun is ok. It is no Vex, it is no Suros… now, the fun part of my review… PVP. This weapon is terrible. At first I got in there and landed a final blow headshot to a guardian and triggered the thrall explosion and thought, this is going to be a beast. However, that too was short lived as I found that my kills were getting stolen, more often than not as it takes a considerable amount of bullets to down a guardian. Also, I must touch on this. I went up against a guardian with a Monte Carlo. We had two encounters in which both of us had full health. The majority of my bullets hit him directly in the face yet he still bested me, both times and with plenty of health to spare. This was a little irritating. I feel like raid exclusive exotics should be more op than others. Anyhow, the worst was yet to come. Twenty minutes later I had a similar situation as the one I have already described only, this time I lost to a guardian using an Up For Anything…. ….an UP FOR ANYTHING! I had to walk away. This gun seriously needs a buff because, in my opinion, it is one of the worst exotics I have ever used. The only thing that makes it slightly redeemable is the thrall explosions but that is like saying, "My car stereo system slams…but my car is broken down." EDIT: I forgot to mention that I used this gun on the Daily Heroic mission today (Level 30) and if you encounter a Major, expect to have to use approximately 2 clips (with 99% of the bullets hitting them, the vast majority of which being crits) in order to down them… what a disappointment.

People are so stupid lol. This is obviously already bungies plan. Let them do it once people have hard mode crotas end on farm.
-
2 RepliesVex changes were made a week prior to dlc release. I would expect similar circumstances.
-
1 Reply1. There is going to be a arc scout rifle. 2. Fatebringer is still going to be my number 1 arc primary. R.I.P nechrocasm before I even get it. It is going to be shit anyway so no point.
-
They only did that to prepare people for DLC... Man, people want a buff and it hasn't even come out yet.
-
3 RepliesBiggest problem here is the crap impact that the necrochasm has. It is going to be a seriously disappointing gun.

4 RepliesEdited by GouldBerg988: 1/16/2015 7:01:25 AM
The Necrochasm will be the most "difficult" weapon to obtain
Nechrochasm will be only rare if Crux of Crota is an uncommon drop, which we don`t know yet. Atm probably 90% of all Vetplayers have multiple maxed Eidolon Alleys (I don`t because I hate the weapon). Nothing suggests that Bungie intends the Nechrochasm to be the new Vex, so I don`t think that it makes sense to buff the Attackrate.

The vex is stronger in PvP than it was when they nerfed it, something changed. If they can't make the damage of the necrochasm higher without it affecting PvP, then I vote no. If they can, then yes.
-
1 ReplyI may be wrong but I think the vex was increased to 323 as a compromise for all the nerfs to its damage multipliers. This way it was balanced in PvP and still a viable weapon in PvE.

Necro starts off at 324 n goes up by 31. It end at 355. Vex starts at 323 n goes up by 31 n ends at 354. If they update vex.
-
That weapon needs +10 impact
-
It is a raid weapon.....thats not a bad idea
-
Agree also raise the impact
-
I still can't get a damn husk to drop
-
Impact makes me sick
-
5 RepliesFlaw: it would affect iron banner pvp.

5 RepliesThe Vex was raised to 323 damage after they nerfed it so hard that it became junk. I don't think that it will be common practice to raise all raid exotics above standard exotic level. I think bungee raise the Vex because they nerfed it too hard.
-
voted no because, vex was seriously nerfed, didnt have it because im a noob, but was it upgraded to 323 because it was lacking impact because it was nerfed by at least 50% or more?

7 RepliesEdited by Kovathos: 1/16/2015 7:03:33 AMAs far as I've seen, the attack value is meaningless for the most part. Basically if a weapon has 120 attack it'll do its max damage to level 12 enemies and under... Assuming your light level is also 12 or higher. In order for you to do highest damage possible your light level must ALSO be at level or higher of your target. Damage does go up of its under level of your enemies and you upgrade it sure, but having your light level under means you suffer an even greater damage penalty. More so than any missing attack power on a weapon. Light level matters more in pve. Some believe that light level above your enemies allows you to take more damage because your armour is upgraded but honestly I don't notice much a difference. There's no real benefit I see from being over levelled. Which is why vex is still good and even VoG raid armour and weapons are still good as you can use them in either the raid or in other dominantly vex missions with no downside to being level 30. On another note.

No. Planning ahead, except for prices of DLC, is expressly forbidden at Bungie.
-
9 RepliesVex was raised in prep for 2.0 exotics since xur can't upgrade what isn't sold. Learn to read the patch notes.
-
2 RepliesThe exotics are maxed at 331
-
If I'm not mistake the next max damage will be 365, so yeah 350something make sense since Vex is 8 below the new max.
-
1 ReplyI think the vex Mythoclast was 323 to prepare those for the crota raid because of solar shields Nechrochasm should prepare everyone for house of wolves raid since it is arc and against captain shields and should be higher than 331
-
It had 323 attack.....for a week, then all new weapons and 2.0 exotics bumped to 331. The reason it was brought to 323 was because of the "buff" the exotics got which was promised for 2 months at that point. That was how they buffed it for the pve side more or less. If it went to 331 attack, people would complain all over again how OP it is during Iron Banner, as it's attack level would be level 33 and max armor level is 32. Yes I know all exotics have 33 attack when maxed out during Iron Banner, but the Vex would revert back to pre-nerf Vex at 331.
