Edit: Hearing in other comments that destiny is the most disappointing game on multiple lists! How's it feel, bungie?

Destiny is one of those strange games that belong on both the top games list and the top disappointments list. It is a good game but not the perfect game so many expected. At least not yet.

For me personaly Destiny is an amazing game with something for everyone. The Story was short granted, but all it was for me was an introduction and an oportunity to become more familiar with the game dynamics, enemys etc. I used to enjoy FPS, well they ticked that box, I mean the way the controls feel and the movement is better than anything Call Of Duty or Battlefield have ever provided. If I feel like just generaly wondering around for some target practice I can. VOG is one if the best social gaming experiences I have ever encountered, my favourate being Command and Conquer Zero Hour. I can collect weapons, shaders, etc. For the £75.00 i have paid so far inclusive of DLC I had got a good deal. For example for a night out with the lads for around roughly 6 hours I would easily spend this amount. To put it in perspective I have played for around 250 hours, in terms of nights out that would cost me around £2500 and I will continue to put many more hours in. Now thats value for money!

Yet I bet it's the most played and still earning more profit than the majority of games.

5 RepliesConsidering the amount of people still playing it across all consoles, it doesn't really matter.
-
3 RepliesBungie must be proud. I bet you its also the most disappointing title on the angryjoe's list as well
-
1 ReplyI'm surprised advanced warfare was not on the list
-
3 RepliesForbes is video game publication number one all star.
-
I found a list with it in the best

1 ReplyIn all honesty if was that dissapointing and sucked there wouldn't be so many people logging hundreds of hours into it playing every single day. I play every day and have fun so I feel that kind of limits my ability to complain and bitch about what's wrong with the game. I will never understand the dude that has over 500 hrs in and opens his mouth every opportunity to tell everyone how bad the game is. Yeah it must be so horrible that you've dedicated every single free minute you have to it! Hahaha

I'd say Thief and Watch Dogs were the top two most disappointing games of 2014.

Edited by KeyserSoze: 1/15/2015 7:11:44 PMForbes has possibly the worst video game/game industry "reporting" in the BS world of online media. Their "game reporters" are nothing more than contributors/bloggers. Frequently they have little to zero knowledge on the topics they "report" on, and their reporting is nothing more than opinions with no technical expertise behind it. Just so everybody knows...these guys don't have gaming or development degrees...the went to school to write and they like videogames...this does not make them a credible source for gaming and game industry reporting....just let me know next time you see one of these guys at any tech event E3 etc...calling them reporters is like calling anyone with a driver's license a professional race car driver.

3 RepliesTHIEF WATCH DOGS BOUND BY FLAME There's 3 games that were terrible. The first 2 also had a lot of hype going in but both turned out to be garbage. Destiny has it's flaws but were all still playing it.

5 RepliesI love destiny and yes I am disappointed in how much content there is but I still can't put it down. The game I was disappointed with was call of duty advanced warfare. I've played from modern warfare and I think because of advanced warfare Im done playing call of duty.

I think "most disappointing" is accurate. It is definitely not even in the top ten "worst games", and I play and enjoy it daily, but the potential was there for a much better product, and they missed the mark on so many things that the game still comes across as a letdown. I will definitely wait for reviews on the next release in the 10 year plan before purchasing. I will also not fall for the "the reviews are wrong because the game really starts at level 20" lie again. In my experience the game (story, new things to do, interesting missions) actually ended right at level 20. The grind began there, which would be fine if it was accompanied by the occasional change of pace, modification of the game world or exciting gear, but sadly it was not.

If I cared about the opinions of other people that much I'd live a very boring life. Fck yo lists!

1 ReplyThat would have been my vote. It's been a long time since I've seen a game fall so short of expectations. And here's the thing, guys: It's okay to love a game and still see it as a disappointment. True fans are always able to see the flaws in something they enjoy.
-
1 ReplyDestiny will be the only game ever to win both "Most Disappointing" and "Game of the Year." I know I love and hate it.
-
3 RepliesLoL Forbes, for all your video game shit. Yeah right.

Edited by Semperfi1999: 1/15/2015 7:05:37 PMThe only reason why this game was a "disappointment" was because people assumed the game would be bigger than it was. Bungie noted that this game was their biggest game ever....and I dont doubt it....it probably is the game with the biggest spaces and most information and most weapons they have ever made. But some people assumed that by their saying its our biggest game ever it will dwarf Skyrim in sheer hours it would take to just complete every main mission much less do all the other stuff. So this game sufferred from gamers unreasonable expectation more than anything else. I would argue its not bungies fault that the expectation was unreasonable. That would be like blaming the manufacturer when you buy a Ford Impala and its not a Mercedes Benz like you thought it was. Fortunately I had reasonable expectations going in and have not had this lvl of disappointment that other gamers state they have with this game. Thats not to say there arent a few things that needed to be fixed like purple turning green....etc but other than a few design decisions that were poorly done (most have been corrected) it is an incredibly fun and involving game.

8 RepliesI tend to subscribe to Giantbomb.com's opinions on Destiny. They selected Destiny as one of their top 3 biggest disappointments of 2014. They ALSO placed Destiny in their top 10 list of games of the year. It's a shame that the game isn't the obvious choice for goty. It should have been, but it wasn't. That being said, it is still objectively one of the best games of the year. Jeff Gerstmann HATES Destiny. He actively talks against it and despises it. He also supported putting it on their top 10 goty list. That says something about how GOOD this game actually is.

Edited by Troll U Softly: 1/15/2015 7:03:37 PMI completely agree. I play it a lot because the mechanics are great and it's really fun to play with friends....but man, I constantly wonder wtf Bungie is thinking and where their priorities are. They make some boneheaded decisions. They care about fixing cheesing more than anything else including tons of glitches like heavy ammo. They fixed cheeses in VoG and introduced tons of problems they never fixed. They just patched Crota and introduced more problems they won't fix. We are doing the same bounties as day 1 and the same missions. With the resources they have available they should be creating so much more new content, I don't get why they opt to focus on the things they do rather than providing more things for us to do. It is stagnant and repetitive but I do it anyways.

Destiny is definitely a disappointment from what it was hyped to be and what it should have and could have been. That said it's still an amazingly awesome game and the most fun I've had in gaming in years!
-
I love destiny, had a blast in the iron banner last night with a team of friends.

2 RepliesWhen trying to decide if i like a video game, i simply play it and find out. If i want to learn about business trends/commerce, ill pick up a forbes.

1 ReplyDestiny was definitely a major dissapointed, and indeed it was the #1 Dissappointing game of 2014. However, Destiny is not a "worst" game, the game is good, the problem was in the execution and delivery of the game.

22 RepliesI'm unsure why we're supposed to care. I don't let others decide what I do and don't like
