Why high levels are assumed to grab Relic?
I've noticed this a lot with the more vog teams I go into, everytime I get teleported they always look to the higher levels to grab it. The 29s can easily grab it but say the Minotaur will kill me when I smash him-.- I'm a defender Titan with weapons of light and a black hammer, i never grab it for those reasons and people still don't understand why. Why would u have the strongest dpsers grab the relic...
Edit: but would u sacrifice your highest dmgers to use the relic over the inferior weapons ppl?
Edit: wow over 130 messages already, great advice and support guys really appreciate it! I really like the idea where the high level uses relic to kill minions and then drops relic; then a low level picks it up. Whatd u guys think?

29s should never be grabbing the relic if there are 30 plus people in the group. That's just asking for a wipe.

30+ can take more hits from Minotaur and hobgoblins. 29s it's usually one glitch lag or mistake and you're dead. Atheon isn't that hard anymore so if you have a few 32s I wouldn't even worry about the drop method

5 RepliesI hate it when I'm in a group of randoms (all of whom are 30+) on hard Atheon and they insist that lvl 32s HAVE to take the relic over the 31s and 30s. Like it makes a difference. (yeah, a small amount of additional armor, whatever)

2 RepliesU know what ? Due to bugs and stuff I find ppl r still reluctant to take it. I had a bad run a couple weeks ago and have been put off...until last night where I grabbed it every time and rocked the shit out of the enemies.

This is the way that I look at it. From a level 30 perspective and a level 32, I don't believe you do any more damage to things within the vault of glass, but the higher the level, the higher the "general" experience that person has. From an LFG perspective, they don't know your skill level, and all they see is numbers. That 29 [i]can[/i] (not will!) risk a wipe more than a 30 purely based on numbers and damage calculations, which is time, time that they really don't want to spend extra of when it could have been avoided. That one person not doing as much damage, compared to risking a wipe outweighs the benefits of that one person doing a bit more damage. Two runs is two runs, whether you have a level 32 relic bearer or a level 29 relic bearer. Personally, I have no problem with 29's trying the relic if they truely feel comfortable grabbing it. When I was a 29, I grabbed the relic a few times in a group of 30's on hard mode, and it worked out well because I had practiced with the relic with a Templar checkpoint and multiple normal clears before hand, but they don't know that. Hopefully I explained that well enough...

12 RepliesBecause the level 30+ will do increasingly more damage to enemies with ground slam. Let's go with your assumption that a 29 grabs the relic on Mars with you there? Guess what... That's immediately a wipe. Know why? The 29 can't one hit the hob goblins, but they can one hit him. As a 30+ you can one hit all of them. Next? Venus.. The 29 might get the goblins, but the minotaur won't even flinch and stomp the 29 dead. Are you stupid, or do you just not play much?

Any 30+ worth their salt can kill the minotaur before the relic holder gets to the bottom of the stairs. This should be a non-issue.

If you waste even 5-6 seconds, just dropping, then picking up and positioning, you have already made the encounter twice as long with the amount of portal phases you will go through to accomplish this. Best run, even with a 29 (why are they still 29 in the first place???): -Highest level grabs relic to survive mobs in portal. -Once the last 2 oracles pop up, relic holder cleanses players one last time and leaves to the center platform -Players in portal finish off oracles then head to center platform to cleanse and DPS This allows the players outside to immediately start pounding Atheon once Time's Vengeance hits. A full 30 seconds makes the encounter so much sweeter. Don't waste time dropping the relic. It just wastes both game time and your time lol.

I helped my noob friends through their first vog and I had to grab the relic every time, its the only way we would've beaten it. I am the highest dps-er but we still managed to beat it. Probably took 4 TV but we did it lol.

1 Replytheres an easy fix on that when me and my friends do VOG, the highest level guy grabs it cause he has the highest chance to survive and do damage. once you get outside the portal you drop it and let the lowest DPS guy grab it so you can DPS Atheon, if you ask how about the timer for the bubble shield? by the time he grabs the relic the Times of Vengeance is up and his shield will be full.

7 RepliesI'm really confused as to what your OP is saying. It's a confusing post. But basically, 29's can take the relic, but they have less survivability than a 30 or higher. So what would you rather? Sacrifice a small amount of boss damage, or risk another wipe? I know what I would pick.

A 32 with a rare weapon does more damage than a 28 with a legendary/exotic weapon, keep that in mind

Sorry to say it but now there is no reason to have anyone under level 29 in hardmode VoG because there is no excuse for that.

8 RepliesGot an invite from a random I'm friends with yesterday to join fireteam. So I join and they're on atheon. Ask if it's hard or normal they say normal and I tell them I have to go because I want to do hard for obvious reasons. Everyone starts yelling no no no do you know how to use the relic? Uh yea? Ended up helping them finish it because I felt bad but for shits sake it's not that hard how do people not know how to use it? Going to stop picking it up and tell who ever has no experience with it to get it. Atleast they'll learn
