By that logic you should just stop playing altogether since everything you do will be irrelevant in 3 months or less. Games progress, focus on the fun and not on the gear treadmill.

It's the treadmill that's burned me out, and I see another burnout in progress on the way to March. It's one thing to run that treadmill, but it's entirely another to be kicked off it, hop back on, and then get kicked off it again.
