I've been gaming for a very long time. Over the years, I've noticed two very important things.
1) More and more women are playing video games
2) Gaming is still very much male-centric, and the attitude and actions of male players reinforce this.
Listen, I'm not gonna accuse all of you male Destiny players of being "sexist, misogynistic pigs". I don't believe people are intentionally like that. But you have to realize that you may unconsciously hold some, dare I say, sexist attitudes that turn away many females from playing games.
Do you only play as male Guardian? If you don't, great! You're making Destiny, and gaming in general, a welcome, safe, and inclusive space for women. However, if you do only play as male Guardians, then that can be indicative of some very negative attitudes, attitudes from when gaming was (and still is, to an extent) a boy's club. That needs to change.
So, I encourage every man out there to make a female Guardian, to show solidarity with all of the gals playing Destiny. If you don't have an empty character slot, delete one of your male characters and start anew!

Please leave this place and never return. Dictating to others how to play makes you one of the the most disgusting forms of a human.

Yea I'm gonna delete one of my characters just to make a chick. Lol dumbest post I've ever read on these forums. I'll do what I want.
-
Yea... I'm sexist. Am I hurting anyone's feelings believing that video games are more of a guy thing? Women do play video games, but it is like for every 1 woman there are 500 guys. Almost to the point everyone points out when a girl is in the party

How is playing as a male guardian sexist?
-
I only have female characters, I just always thought that the design looked nicer than the male.
-
This was almost enough for me to delete my hunter.

7 RepliesI'm a woman and I think its weird if a man has a females character

Ima go tee bag the 1st female character I see
-
So your calling me sexist for only having a male character. While I feel that sexism in gaming sucks, I don't think having a male or female character will not change anything. I personally think that a better way to deal with douche bags is to call them stupid and just not play with them.

Wow, the a amount of stupidity you packed into one post is amazing.
-
This is a joke right? This can't be real...

4 RepliesWoman are only good for 3 things: cooking, cleaning, and veginas.

Is anyone seeing that this is turning into a second women's rights movement, and at that, a digital one? This is awesome!

Made a female warlock way back when

All my characters look like bill Clinton.
However, if you do only play as male Guardians, then that can be indicative of some very negative attitudes, attitudes from when gaming was (and still is, to an extent) a boy's club. That needs to change
That just doesn't make sense. Its a video game. What everyone should try for is playing as who they want whenever they want. If some gal wants all of characters to be all gals, thats cool. If a dude wants his characters to be all dudes that cools as well. If someone wants to mix up there characters thats cool as well, cause you know, its a video game.

It's a -blam!-ing video game. Jesus Christ. Play as a man if you want. Play as a female if you want. Stop this "sexism & mysogny" bullshit.

1 ReplyThis is stupid

*facepalm* having a female character doesn't mean that you are accepting females or are a feminist. I accept females to gaming but this person is just *facepalm* I CAN'T EVEN GET THROUGH IT

5 RepliesThis game is already dead. Let it die.

Heaven must be a cross between a dikekike video and chicken and winnigish. I can have a leg on one hand and a breb on the other.

So I'm not welcoming women into the community because my guardians are male. Ok mate.

Edited by Wicked: 2/10/2015 9:26:44 PMCharacter gender has nothing to do with the male female misscommunication, I have been in plenty of raids with females where they won't talk for the simple fact of being judged by males. I have several females on my friends list that I love playing with. I'm not sure why there's so much criticism towards women? It shouldn't matter what's between your legs, anyone should feel comfortable speaking and playing. The fact that women are looked at as "weird" for playing video games is rediculous. But playing as a female character? Lol another victim to the "everyone gets a trophy" society right here.
