I've been gaming for a very long time. Over the years, I've noticed two very important things.
1) More and more women are playing video games
2) Gaming is still very much male-centric, and the attitude and actions of male players reinforce this.
Listen, I'm not gonna accuse all of you male Destiny players of being "sexist, misogynistic pigs". I don't believe people are intentionally like that. But you have to realize that you may unconsciously hold some, dare I say, sexist attitudes that turn away many females from playing games.
Do you only play as male Guardian? If you don't, great! You're making Destiny, and gaming in general, a welcome, safe, and inclusive space for women. However, if you do only play as male Guardians, then that can be indicative of some very negative attitudes, attitudes from when gaming was (and still is, to an extent) a boy's club. That needs to change.
So, I encourage every man out there to make a female Guardian, to show solidarity with all of the gals playing Destiny. If you don't have an empty character slot, delete one of your male characters and start anew!

Meanwhile at the retarded White Knighting headquarters... "Girls will blow us, if we make them think they deserve more than they do" that was stupid OP. That was stupid.

1 ReplyThat's not sexism that's called I bought this game and I'm a male so I'm gonna make a male character. Taking it a bit too seriously there.
-
Is this satire? Have you played the game? Almost every female character in Destiny is played by a guy. Maybe the guys should create a male character. So we know who to be nice to and who can trash talk for being all scrubby.
-
you should probably go back to tumblr friend
-
So not playing as a female makes the game less female friendly? Likewise playing as a female makes it more female friendly? I think you just want an excuse to run around dressed as a girl. "Bu bu but its for solidarity." Sure buddy, sure.

4 RepliesGo back to tumblr please, your SJW bullshit isn't welcome here.

1 ReplyIn the interest of true equality. I want women to understand men more. I want women to make male characters.
-
In my opinion it isnt sexism. And being a male/female guardian doesnt affects your opinion about us girls gaming. Just saying.

1 ReplyReach down , check you still got a pair bro , honestly ? Fk females ! They can go play animal crossing or some shit for all I care
or go do some housework
Video games are majority male orientated. It's a place for males to get away from their girlfriends/wife's and have guy time. There are few places that I can think of that are men space. 1. Video games/man cave 2.cigar shops/lounges. Now those places are not just for males as any female can attend although males are the majority of those three stated. Men need their space from females from time to time. In man space, men can be men, burp, fart, bad language, fight, yell, talk about who they always wanted to bang, drink, ect all without females telling them to act proper.

What will this solve at all....male who use female charicters are wierdos. Wierd to see a female charicter and have a deep 40 year old grown man voice come out of it

2 RepliesI've been playing for awhile now and haven't got any comments made because I'm a girl and my name gives it away...and if someone did id just mute them. But even if I see a female guardian I still think they are probably a guy but who cares really as long as you can hold your own

2 RepliesI was reported and given a 24 hour temporary ban becuase during a vault raid when I was carrying lower level people thru I decided to get funny and start tbagging one of the people who just died until respawn and said gezz I'm really letting her have it gotta be careful or I'll rip her a new one. Well turned out it was actually a girl playing hadn't talked the entire raid just listened and boy did she blow a damn gasket. I've never heard so much hatred from one human next time I logged on my psn wouldn't log in due to temporary ban for violating code of conduct. So now I've learned to be gender neutral when tbagging people either in crucible or raids and not say a gender anymore

2 RepliesI have female characters but just wanna make clear I'm still sexist
-
Your a bitch Niqqa. I'm playing as my character. I am male therefore he is male. Stop asking people to play as females so you can fap off to your destiny toons and not feel insecure about them being males

2 RepliesEdited by o0DELTA FORCE0o: 2/10/2015 11:34:29 PMNice gesture but unnecessary. I should make a female character to make females feel welcome? Yea that's not going to happen. Ill play the way I want to. So does this mean women need to play female characters? Maybe they want to play a male character. How about this, when you encounter a female gamer you don't make the dumb ass comments like "I didn't know there was a kitchen in destiny" or "make me a sandwich" one thing about gaming is clear the internet makes some people an asshole because they are in the safety of thier own homes. Just act normal and there will be no issue.

2 RepliesI'm a female and I could give two -blam!-s if you make a female character. Wanna make me feel welcome? Then play with me and don't -blam!-ing suck ass at it. I make penis jokes and all sorts of shit. I t-bag my fellow male players and make sexual jokes. It doesn't matter. This is dumb. lol. I don't even need other people to play -blam!- that. I run half the shit by myself anyways!

Video games are welcome to males and females. Most people that play video games are male and it will always be that way. The sexism towards females will be there naturally with the majority male video game population. To males out there. Do not use a female character to invite more females/make it more female friendly. Destiny is already female friendly. You have the ability to make your characters female. Seems female friendly to me. I'm not going to effeminate my character to appease the 10% or less female population. I'm going to now make a sandwich for my girlfriend. I'm just a wimpy beta male with no confidence. Trollolol

Frankly, I don't care.

No, i have 3 males charecters 1 32 1 31 and 1 29, if you think im gonna dismantle one of them just so i will have a female guardian? No this post is stupid

People like this are the same people that go through Disney movies and pick out parts of the movie and say we learned something negative from it. Mean while the point they decided to use is way out of context and has no relation to the point they are trying to make. Like what everyone has said in here your reading in to something that there isn't. I play Destiny with my girl friend and a friends sister in law and they don't feel that because I play as a male character I'm sexist. I'm not and it's a rude allegation to make.
-
3 RepliesI am a male and have two female characters and a male exo. I only have them because those are the main characters of my story, nothing else. I am trying really hard to understand why anyone would make a connection between males making male characters and contributing in any way to sexism in video games. That is just an absolutely silly and confusing cause and effect.

i love playing with girls
-
So you want us to lie about our gender, WTF
-
Please leave this place and never return. Dictating to others how to play makes you one of the the most disgusting forms of a human.
