Destiny and sexism (and what us guys can do about it)
I've been gaming for a very long time. Over the years, I've noticed two very important things.
1) More and more women are playing video games
2) Gaming is still very much male-centric, and the attitude and actions of male players reinforce this.
Listen, I'm not gonna accuse all of you male Destiny players of being "sexist, misogynistic pigs". I don't believe people are intentionally like that. But you have to realize that you may unconsciously hold some, dare I say, sexist attitudes that turn away many females from playing games.
Do you only play as male Guardian? If you don't, great! You're making Destiny, and gaming in general, a welcome, safe, and inclusive space for women. However, if you do only play as male Guardians, then that can be indicative of some very negative attitudes, attitudes from when gaming was (and still is, to an extent) a boy's club. That needs to change.
So, I encourage every man out there to make a female Guardian, to show solidarity with all of the gals playing Destiny. If you don't have an empty character slot, delete one of your male characters and start anew!

To them, people who played games were gross nerds and losers, and they weren't afraid to tell them so. Only once men had done all the work and turned games into something fantastic with widespread appeal did they start trying to infiltrate the culture and turn it to their advantage. It's just one more example of women co-opting and subverting something men created - turning games into yet another mechanism for empowering women and abusing men. I find the situation particularly offensive since games were one of the last 'male spaces' left in society, and women are loudly and explicitly attempting to destroy that. It's had a massively negative impact on the quality of games too, as big publishers dumb everything down to appeal to their sentimentality, short attention spans, and need to have their hands held. Female 'gamers' themselves do nothing to help my perception, with 85% of them being low-skilled attention whores who use their gender to get males to carry them through challenges. Let the insults flow - you all still know it's true.

I don't play as female guardians and if I do, I make her the biggest slut in the game. I'll make her crouch in front of male guardians to suck sausage and give them lap dances.

I have a lot of respect for women, especially considering the fact that none of us would be alive without them, but encouraging players to don the role of a female guardian to show that females are welcome is plain stupid. I don't play as a female guardian because I see them as weak, or not as good, I don't at as a female guardian because I don't like the way they look, and it seems a bit weird playing as female being a male. You want to know why the gaming community in general are disrespectful little shitbags? It's because they know they can get away with it, they know most things they say and do will have no real life consequences, so they feel they have the right to disrespect anyone they come in contact with. And honestly, the whole feminism movement seems like a crock of shit to me, why not have a movement for human rights? Why not be a humanist?
