Me thinks you are a troll or a noob.
Motes of light are needed for IB and the Xur exotic armor engram. I have 169 motes and counting in the bank. When xur sells the helmet engram I will use all of the motes to get the obsidian mind helmet.

Good luck, I spent about that number the last time he had helmet engrams. Got one warlock helmet, it wasn't obsidian mind. Got 90 odd and counting and hoping for helmet engrams this week. Or he could just sell it for coins.

Xur usually sells voidfang and sunbreakers for warlocks. Hoping that sells obsidian mind is like hoping that he will sell ghorn again. I plan on decoding the helmet engrams with my Hunter. The cryptarch loves to give you gear that is not for your class. Therefore I should get a lot of warlock helmets.
