How does RNG work?
Can somebody explain to me the algorithm used for the loot system?
Because I dont understand why I keep getting the same items/gear over and over.
I'm starting to believe every individual gamer has his or her own loot table. If it's a random number generator why do we get repeats of the same number?
EDIT: This is not a complaint about what I did or didn't get in a video game. This is more like a curious math question.

3 RepliesThe rng system works like this The scrubs and nubs get a endless wave of exotics while pros struggle to get a single exotic.

1 ReplyMy experience has been only receiving exotic drops (chests, purple turning to exotic, etc) for items I already own (either xur engram or purchase). 3 patience and time drops after I bought it and two armor drops for armor I already had). Just seems statistically unlikely unless there is some part in the algorithm that increases the chances of repeats for any random drop opportunity. Seen others mention similar experiences too. Think about it, all the 'fun and excitement' of an exotic drop to keep you playing without getting you any closer to the exotics you are missing. Brilliant!

4 RepliesNobody but Bungie knows the algorithm, and you know that. So why ask for it? Anyway, it looks like you are experiencing a bout of "Bad RNG". It happens to all of us, but we don't make forum posts about it. Have you forgotten the "Good RNG" streaks you have had in the past? I think so....
