Are Hawkmoon fans mostly PS fanboys?
Or is this handcannon really better than Thorn? You would expect a HC that requires work to earn to be more useful.

No, I am not a hand cannon user, but the hawk moon is really an insane gun. Thorn may have the poison. But hawk moon will 2 shot headshot. And it has 3 random bullets in the chamber that can 1shot. It's a hand cannon users wet dream.

hawk moon is better in pvp really good hand cannon but each person has there own choice I like fate bringer lol wouldn't really say ps fanboys you'll see come September

Its hard to imagine how powerful hawkmoon is until you have it and use it yourself. Its like it has hidden damage stat that isnt shown in the description, pretty much like vex mytho was before it got nerfed.

It is an amazing HC. So is Thorn. I prefer Thorn. Others prefer Hawkmoon.

2 RepliesI'm pretty sure the dot on thorn totals out to do the same damage as hawkmoons lucky shots. Both have their respective play styles, I prefer to go at situations with patience and tact, so I use thorn, while some people may just want to get the kill quickly, and for them, hawkmoon is better.

I don't have Hawkmoon, but let's just say when you get hit with it you know what hit you. I've been one shotted by this damn gun so many times it's unreal.

5 RepliesIt is by far better than the thorn, I've used a thorn before and after the buff, I always lose to a hawkmoon and I rarely miss a shot. It's just a bit quicker than the thorn.

Your title is somewhat self defeating in that you can only get it on ps3, so they obviously are fans of the gun. More specifically to the point, each gun has it's strengths. Thorn is excellent at high damage and denying shield recharge/tracking while hawk moon retains a high damage longer with an extended cylinder plus potential extra damage. Overall these two are REALLY close to each other, and outside of situational examples, it's up to personal preference. I have both, and I like both.

2 RepliesTo some aspects it is better than Thorn because the extra damage perk delivers a lot of damage. The main problem is compared to The Last Word and Thorn, its damage is really inconsistent. PVE wise Hawkmoon and Thorn exceed The Last Word, but PVP wise the Hawkmoon falls short because it relies too much on those luck based perks. This is coming from someone who has all three.

Don't own either but I've seen the stats and I've seen comparison videos. Hawkmoon was the king of all Handcannon's in Destiny up until very recently. Recently Thorn was buffed ( a lot ) so it is now more or less considered to be in the same league as Hawkmoon. Obviously opinions vary depending on the user and what it's being used for ( PVE, PVP ). I no longer know how the two compare but Hawkmoon still remains my most lusted after exotic in Destiny.

Play on both systems hawkmoon is amazing. the last word to me is the best PVP handcannon tho I can't snipe snipers with tlw or thron like I can hawkmoon.

3 RepliesWell i dont have hawkmoon but i have been killed by it and i can say that it is a beast, idk if it was a glitch or someone else also shot me and i didnt see it but iv been one-shot by hawkmoon, iv never one-shot anyone with thorn. Hawkmoon is the only weapon in this game that i really want and cant get.

Not really. Due to its higher impact, mag and the three lucky bullets, you may get a higher dps than Thorn. It's my weapon of choice, along with the Mythoclast, for the Vault of Glass. At 331atk it one shots hobgoblins on precision hits. Thorn is excellent in Crucible and Crota's End, since Mark of the Devourer helps keep the Swordbearer, Wizards and Crota from regenerating health and shields.
