If it requires radiant shards to upgrade, then great. Hope it does offer light 36 gear. In order to reach that though you would need to run raid for mats. Perfect. Alternate 32 gear with new look/stats. Idk how anyone could be upset about that. HOWEVER, it would be complete crap for it to be light 36 gear that requires ascendant mats.

So basically grind IB to required level, and then grind glimmer to buy and dismantle as many pieces of armor as u can to get radiant mat...
-
Previous versions of IB stuff does not dismantle to shards, so if they do that correctly then that should not be possible
-
Oh ok.. didn't know that (didn't try dismantling them). I still believe if they offer lvl 32 gear, they should be upgradable with ascendant mats. I don't see the point otherwise
-
Point in making it radiant mats is that it would still make it only upgradeable to max lvl if you have the DLC. Which is a stated point by Bungie. It would also remove some of the basis for complaints from the raid only crew as you still would need to run the raid to reach max lvl. Also if only two pieces are available from the vendor, as previously was the case, then you still need one raid piece and one exotic to reach max. Solves a lot of issues without offering what may consider a pointless armor set

Thing is at the current rate we get radiant shards, i'm not gonna start "wasting" them to upgrade an alternate pair of gloves for variety of play before I upgrade all my current raid gear. It's gonna take a while. So buying IB gear that would require radiant mats would be useless. In VoG, armor drop rates were much lower, so IB gear came in handy to fill the empty slots. In CE, by the time u accumulate the 21 shards needed (3-4 raids/weeks), chances are u would have looted the missing piece
-
So true.
-
True, however if the stats on the IB better fit your playstyle or preferences, wouldn't you consider using that item over the CE gear, and therefore choose to upgrade the one that best fits your character?
-
If i have the mats ir haven't started upgrading the raid piece, sure! But that reason alone won't be enough to get me playing IB for a week (coming from a less-than-casual crucible player). If i could upgrade them with ascendant mats though, count me in! Even if i already have a full set of raid gear.

I agree with you on this. More variation on gear is always welcome. I hate it when literally every high level player is using the same gear.
