Hi ArnorRanger, The matchmaking system used by Destiny automatically looks for good connections, which often are closer to you. I'm afraid there is no 'manual override' for this system, but if you like, I recommend making a post in our #Feedback forum if you have any ideas you would like to see in Destiny.
