this may always be the case with many things in destiny or many other games. due to budget and time limits the devs might choose shorter paths.
i do agree though that there's a limit, and in many watys i would agree that it has been crossed in several places :(

The "time constraints" reason is why I really wish that Bungie would have armor/weapon concept community contests, and the winners would have their guns and armor pieces created in future updates. Harness the community's time, manpower, and passion.
