If asked to become a Bnet Moderator Would you? Why or why not?

Thought I'd start a thread, it has been a little while and for once it isn't some random idea. Shazam.

 • Probably not, primarily because-as Blahoo posted-I wouldn't want members agreeing or disagreeing with me simply because of who I am. I'm fine with bein' a normal member. ;)

 •
Posted by: Piercingtiger I would. Because I work very hard and can work on weekends. I'll do whatever it takes, WHATEVER. I always put the cover sheet on the TPS report and I'll work 2nd and 3rd shift too. Did you guys get my updated resume? I've sent it about 400 times, but I have another one here if you'd like it. Okay, honestly, I'd probably go crazy as a mod. Crazy I tell you. I'd probably decline. I don't want anything to take away from my time waiting for games to start in social BTB (even though we had 16 people, so we shouldn't have had to wait...............argh.) And another thing....!!!!!!!!!!!! *and that's why I couldn't be a mod*
Good old Office Space. That movie is a classic.

 • Oh of course I would accept it. The fame, the fortune, the ability to ban and blacklist at my command, ahhh! The endless possibilities! Not to mention, I finally get to see what it's like in the forums in HFCS...

 • I think it would be pretty sweet to be a Mod, although it would kinda suck having the community turn against me everytime I closed a topic or blacklisted somone.

 • I think being a mod would be... interesting, and probably very fun at times. I don't believe my posting habits would change since I mainly just read through the forums anyways and only throw in a comment here or there. I would most likely start receiving PM's as well, which would probably make me explode from joy (You guys have no idea how excited I am when I notice the little "(1)" next to the Message Center. That is, untill I realize it's just a group ad :C . )

 • Hypothetically speaking, if I were ever a Ninja, I would intentionally do things to confuse general members. For example -Use another Mod's avatar. That's really all I got right now; however, I really think a lot of people would see the avatar and salmon text and assume it was another mod. Recon would be getting "why did you ban me!?!" messages around the clock.

 •
Posted by: GoW I Lord Hood Actually, I kind of would like ot be a moderator, but I wouldn't want Recon. I would hate to have that, because then I'd get annoying messages about it all the time. I'd like to be able to blacklist all the rule breakers, but I don't think I'd go overboard with it. It's always good to let some of the users' bad posts slide. I think it would be kind of cool to have a custom avatar, considering that I like to be different from everyone else. The only difficulties I see in becoming a moderator are the PM's and the vast number of threads I'd have to get to. It would be pretty cool to see what Achronos does in HFCS all the time, too.
I think the mods get tons of recon spam anyway.

 • As much as i would love to, i think i would pass. Forum moderators have alot of "crap" to go through and i'm afraid i don't have the time for that. Plus i bet they have a cornucopia of an inbox with plenty of random messages. I'm not a big fan of that either. I'm glad with being the member that i am.

 • Yeah, I'd probably accept. Bungie.net is probably my most frequented website and I reckon I'd do a good job of it. I've been a mod on a site before but that had a miniscule population compared to Bungie. Still, being in Australia means I'm probably on when a lot of the other mods have gone offline. I can be a night-watchman!

 • I personally think Achronos should delete the Warning system and implement a one day ban option. That'll teach 'em.

 •
Posted by: TranscendArcus
Posted by: Nerd Boi but honestly i think i'd be too tough to be a mod. i'd be too temptedd to hand out bans for people being stupid.
That is a great point, it must to be tough to decide what amounts to a ban and what is simply a lock. I wonder if there is some type of guide/thread that new moderators can reference as a template.
i was more referring here to the people who just act like idiots posting insensical replies. i agree though. deciding whether to lock or to ban would be hard. again i think i'd be a bit too hard, using bans as a way if teaching people a lesson on the mantra 'the burnt hand teaches best' if i was a mod i'd wish for a much shorter ban period. like the rest of the day or 1 day. enough to get the message of dont be an idiot across, but short enough that people wont hate me.

 •
Posted by: Little Bud Yes i would because it would be fun blacklisting those evil doers on Bnet. N Being more superior to all the members.
First statement can be true, depending on the ninja. The second statement? If that is what the ninja thought, it would result in a very short lived ninja-hood.

 • Yes and No. Yes because I want to perma ban every idiot who asks for Recon and rickrolls everybody and have a custom avatar. No because I enjoy being an ordinary member of bnet and dont want to be hated for blacklisting everybody and locking pointless threads.

 • I want to say that having recon and banning powers would be fun, but after hearing about how much it costs with their privacy and sanity, No. Besides, the training process described in HCFS scares me...

 • Nope. I like being a member. People's outlook of me would change because of the orange text and a custom avatar. I prefer it if people judged me on my quality posts and not the color of my text. Saying that, I'd be pretty harshly judged.

 •
Posted by: muffin man one I would say yes but my judgement wouldn't be wise. I would be like Achillies though and refuse Recon, that thing seems like a curse rather than a treasure.
well spoken my friend
