Why Bungie won't flinch to permanently mass ban people who cheat
While some of you may think it's all good and well to exploit raids, there will come a time where Bungie will intervene. As an Activision subsidiary they are not unfamiliar to the practice of mass sanctions. Blizzard has been mass banning people for a decade now. We are talking twenty, thirthythousand at a time. Bungie will have no problems following suit.
It's a good thing for them too as they already made their money off you. The repeat business from the truly addicted is just an added bonus really.
So by all means, keep it up!
(I may get some Activision stock :o)

If they wanted to ban people for cheesing they wouldn't have joked about people cheesing atheon in the new year update. They fix it then laugh about it.

Except wow has created a mass following even going as fat as having celebrities invest heavy time into it. This game however is decent at best and hasn't had time to get it's wheels going and create that kind of following. If you alienate thousands of players most will not come back and it will affect future revenue and activision isn't down for that. Banning players in a generic fps is different from a fps with any rpg elements. I'm aware this is a troll post but it does bring up that important question. If bungie feels everyone's been cheating, would they implement a ban that would cost them a significant amount of money on upcoming games and dlc?

There could be a class action lawsuit... Use some intelligence. Bungie has never once shown how "the game is supposed to be played." And nobody that uses a glitch is doing anything to the software. All these things, for instance the bridge on crota where you can just go run and hide can be argued as "strategy" or "tactics" against what is supposed to be the hardest parts of the game. They ban a huge percentage of their players? They will lose tons of money in future content and a possible lawsuit where everyone can claim cash(even though it obviously wouldn't be but probably like the cost of the dlc or something).

I think if they wanted to ban people, they would have done it right away to sent a message that it wouldn't be tolerated. They're silence on the matter so far.

No they won't. Not if they want to sell more content. Not if they want destiny 2 to even launch. The people that are cheesing are mostly multi character and are the ones putting in long hours on the game. They won't ban the gamers on for 4 hours a day and leave the casuals that check in every couple days.... Nope, not a chance.

WoW Can afford to lose that kind of money. Bungie can't. Besides MMO's have monthly charges for people to play. On top of their expansions costing much more. Destiny only charges 20$ at most for each expansion. And there is no monthly fee. So they couldn't afford to take that hit. Besides all of that Bungie isn't in the practice to Ban in general. They usually only do so in multiplayer instances.

That's just stupid to ban a large number of people based on a glitch that could happen accidentally.... Just like pushing atheon off could happen accidentally if a sun singer threw those grenades in just the right spot... Now if you go into a raid and there's a glitch where you could get infinite rewards somehow, I could see something like that being a ban-able offense.... Because you're intentionally getting infinite drops, but the crota cheese is an accident lol

I don't remember signing anything when I started playing the game saying I wouldn't use glitches. If it's in the game it can be used. As long as everyone your with agrees to the way your playing it's fine. The only people who get banned are using mods or glitching on PvP which no one likes. If people start getting banned without warning for pve stuff there'd be a lawsuit.

Big difference is people dont make money off this games the mass bans you speak of involved bots for the most part and money so destiny is a little different

1 ReplyMan they aren't banning anybody. Most people are annoyed by the fact that they can cheese the raid, but I passed it at least 5 times legit and now we just wanna smash through it. When they fix it we will change accordingly. Have a look at lfg forums man, basically every post mentions cheesing, even asking for people with cheese experience. Do you really think bungie would ban all those fans/business?! Hopefully all the glitches are ironed out when they release hard mode but it's amazing people are still finding new ways to glitch Crota 4 weeks in!

It doesn't affect anyone. If anything, it generate more people to play the hard raid with requirement level of 32. 4. I don't see exploitation as an offense in the terms?

1 ReplyThere will be no bans, because no one cares. Destiny does not have a trading system. If I get 15 black hammers from cheesing Croata it will not disrupt the game economy. I can't give or sell the extra guns. No one was banned from cheeseing the loot cave, Aethon, the templar, or the strikes. It's a game. Play and enjoy it.

How many times do people have to say that there is no "cheating" or "cheesing", whatever you call it, going on in this game. Unless you're using a mod'd controller or box, its all perfectly fine to do, whatever you're doing, as long as you don't alter the game code, etc. Any action you take is fine as it was intended by Bungie/Activision or the game wouldn't have been coded the way it was. Now one thing Bungie did a few months back was make the Weekly Heroic and Nightfall more difficult for solo players, because in their words, "playing the game solo isn't how the game was intended to be played". "Exploitation" refers to an act where you physically affect something, that's not going on here. Cheers

They could wipe raid weapons. The Crota cheese (disconnect the host so he stays down) is network exploitation, which is against the terms of service agreed to by playing Destiny. Yes, this punishes legit players (myself included), but face it -it's a VERY small minority. Armor and such can stay.

People have been cheesing the entire CE raid for a month and cheesing through the whole vault before that. So far 0 bans. They don't care bro. They aren't flinching. No one is getting banned.
