We Need MM for Raids as an option. How are LFG Randoms different from Mm randoms?

Seriously, you say you need the best communication. Yet I can find a random LFG team and do just as well as with my best team. How is MM any different? This quote states it perfectly.
Wouldn't affect me either way because most lfg players are terrible and me and my friends have to carry the group. Same thing goes on the forum, you either get really good people a slim chance of the time of terrible people most of the time. Therefore matchmaking would just make the process of finding the group I am most likely going to have to carry easier.
Still doubtful? To answer some questions. A majority boot option much like Gears of War 1 would prevent grievers and AFKs.

  • Bungie doesn't want to add matchmaking and the community hasn't been vocal enough to make them look how slow it was to get changes for voice chat and even the backlash from the community didn't stop the exotic reset.

  • 1) You can set requirements for LFG randoms. If you only want 30+ or something, or want specific classes, you can include that in your post and kick them if they join in without meeting said requirements. 2) More likely to find trolls/afk's/etc in matchmaking. At least with most LFG people I've played with have been serious and know what they're doing. Judging from strike MM experience, I bet a bunch of people would join in and troll, afk, or leave early. I'll be honest, not a lot to do after you've done all the daily and weekly stuff, and if there was raid MM, I'd probably join random groups and solar wind/shoulder charge people off cliffs or annoy people just for fun. 3) What if half the MM team only wants to do the first part? Now you're at the bridge half the team just quit. Or what if they don't need the first part and just want to start from the boss or something?

  • I think matchmaking would be great, if the raid in its entirety is too much do it like this: Stage 1: Build the bridge and descend into the hell mouth, run through the lanterns and cross the first bridge. Rewards, get returned to orbit. Stage 2: Sword bridge, ogres rewards, shrieker hall/ speed chest, drop down the rabbit hole, get returned to orbit. Stage 3: Wizards, shriekers, and the Deathsinger, and kill knights. Get Crota checkpoint, get returned to orbit. Stage 4: Kill Crota, reap rewards. Make it so that if you are using matchmaking via in game you cannot proceed to the next checkpoint without successfully completing the one prior, and that if anyone drops out a new one is dropped in to take their place to finish the encounter. Doing it like this someone who didnt have the time for a full raid could do 1 stage and quit without screwing anybody over, and people who get placed with an undesireable group have a fast way to get placed into a different one if they so choose.

  • Matching? No. It wouldn't work. I would like some king of in game LFG though. Or even a lobby system where players could 'apply' to join fireteams.

        • How about matchmaking where host can apply filters on who joins. Lvl, completions, mic, etc. Same with joining tick the boxes, I want lvl 30+ with mics and x previous completions.

        • Or they can just add an in game lfg system via a message board in orbit.

The only thing that LFG has that a matchmaking system wouldnt is you can pick and make sure your group is at a certain level... matchmaking would allow level 25 people into the nornal VoG and level 28 in to hard VoG which is basically unrealistic to complete.. Same with CE. Would have level 28s up in there trying to get a carry. But im all for matchmaking as i would not use it but it wouldnt effect me if it was there.

          • I personally wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't have a problem with Bungie implementing it, either. I personally like the idea of getting your fireteam together yourself so you can filter through people to get your needs/wants instead of getting teamed up with a bunch of noobs. But to each his own...

            • The only solution would be to put destinys own "LFG" in the game. Regular matchmaking would be just like strikes, players leaving for no reason and take forever to get a fully functional team.

If it was an option and was not forced upon the player then I have no issues with this. To answer your question though, the main difference between MM and an LFG assembled team is that in an LFG team there is a fireteam leader that can dictate who can join and who gets booted. In MM, if the same system was used as strikes, you can not boot.

              • While LFG can be just like matchmaking it also can be used to actually pick out your team person by person for what you need; most people just pick up random people whenever they respond because it is quicker.

I've said this for awhile now, LFG is no different than matchmaking. You don't know any of the people on LFG either , and people constantly say they have tons of experience when they don't. All matchmaking would do is eliminate having to post on a forum

                • Or, you can get some friends together (oh yeah, there are these things called friends) and not have to complain about carrying randoms.

                  • How are lfg randoms different from MM randoms? I can pick and choose which lfg randoms I play with before I ever get into the raid. MM is basically just going to dumb you in with 3 guys no mic, a 12 year old youtube informed cheeser, and someone afk entirely

                  • Create an in game MM Lobby. Have stats beside the player based on their account stating combined raid completions. Institute a group vote to kick. The only question the people that don't like it need to ask themselves is this. Will it negatively impact the way I play the game? The answer is no. Play how you've always played. No one is forcing you to use MM teams. I probably wouldn't use it often, but I'd use it every one in a while.

                      • Because on LFG you can set your own rules about what you expect from the people that join They are less inclined to lie as they know they'll get booted if they mess around or don't have the required knowledge or skill A lot of guys now probably have a friend list full of guys that they can join

                      • Effort, that is the difference. Even that minimal effort keeps the most frustrating, mind numbingly horrible teams from forming, which keeps the "nerf raid naow!!! I cannot win lootz it is too hard!!!" at bay, which keeps the actual nerfs at bay.

                          • For all of you concerned that matchmaking will somehow reduce fire team quality compared to LFG, guess what, you don't have to use matchmaking. By all means continue using LFG. How does this affect the freedom of choice? Or just have a system where a leader creates a raid lobby with themselves and whoever is already in their fire team and have the matchmaker match other players based on raid performance. You know... using a matchmaking algorithm.

One of the Destiny LFG sites is starting the "100 club" or something along that line where is takes your Raid and account skills into consideration and pairs you up with 99 players similar to you to make Raiding more simple for those struggling to find a good team. Now if you're good, use it, if you suck, get better if you want a better team.

Now you're a 5 man team stuck on oracles because your team is one guy without a mic, 2 noobs you, and a friend. It would be much better on the forms until proximity is implemented because at least on the forms you have a non-verbal agreement that you understand what the raid requires and is a commitment, not just some mission.
