Thorn is Gamebreaking
Edit: Complaint withdrawn; apparently Thorn is not unique in its OP status.
Thank you to those who responded constructively. Doing so rather than sinply flaming can actually change minds. Who would've guessed?!
Edit (Again): So I took what you guys said to heart. The bit about being a very difficult bounty with completion signifying one of the best players in the game? I considered myself above the 5th percentile, so I took that as a challenge. Went ahead and knocked that bounty out over three days, took probably something like 8-10 hours total. You guys were right it was the most difficult bounty I've yet encountered.
Now I've got Thorn and am just beginning to level it; just started using it in Crucible. As someone who has never used any handcannon before, I have to say it is a lot of fun to use. But once again, you guys were right, target acquisition is a bitch. Still so satisfying to get a kill and as I get the hang of it I can see me ruining some peoples days with it. And once I unlock that DoT perk my already ridiculous amount of assists is only gonna get ludicrous.
Thanks for giving me the impetus to finally get this gun with your feedback!

scout rifles are much easier to acquire a target and fire faster... thorn is as it should be, a pain in the ass yes but also -blam!-ing sweet.

6 RepliesEdited by kellygreen45: 1/5/2015 12:05:55 AMI believe every hand cannon in the game is a two headshot kill. Sniper rifles are OHKs to the head, two to the body. The only thing that is unique to Thorn is that the DoT will keep shields from regenerating and let you get a three body-shot kill. Where most HCs (except Hawkmoon's bonus damage) take four body shots. The solution isn't running away or whining on the forum. The solution is to STAY OUT OF mid-range gunfights with Thorn. Because you won't have the luxury of ducking behind cover to let your shields recharge. So you either want to take them out at long range...or get in really close. Lastly, don't hold your breath waiting for Thorn to get nerfed. Thorn is THE most difficult exotic weapon bounties in the game, and Bungie wants it to be one of the most powerful weapons. Which is why it got BUFFED less than a month ago. If you are up against someone carrying Thorn in the Crucible, you are up against one of the game's better all-around players. Besides Hawkmoon is even more deadly, because its random bonus damage perks will sometimes let you ONE SHOT people.

Hand cannons will always out perform a scout within its range. Look at their impact. I love scout rifles, but they are only good in crucible at a distance.

Aren't all hand cannons a 2 headshot kill? What makes Thorn so OP or are you just mad cuz bad?
