I personally think arc damage would be the buff that saves this gun. Please vote and keep bumping. Edit: for those saying that only raid primaries do elemental damage, Fate Of All Fools is an exotic scout rifle that will do solar damage when released. Edit 2: Over 200 replies!   • Only raid primary gear should have elemental damage, the only primary exotic that should have elemental damage is hard light, that'd make it an exotic.

    • Hard light should be more powerful, but it shouldn't have elemental damage. bungie has followed a consistent pattern I'm sure they don't intend to break. As for the fate of all fools- it has yet to be released to the general public and cannot be randomly obtained like hardlight can. Bungie wants the ability to complete nightfalls with ease to be available only to those who have put in the effort to obtain raid primaries, the game is built to keep you playing, they wouldn't do anything to compromise the amount of play time you put in, especially by selling an elemental primary to anyone who has completed a few weeklys.

          • I've started to think all exotic primaries should have elementals. When nightfalls arrive, nobody considers exotics for primaries, even if there isn't a burn. The only exceptions are bad juju/OM combos or those who want healing with suros or red death, but even those are rare. Exotic primaries are effectively PvP weapons, so elemental damage wouldn't change balance issues.

          • No because the only primary exotics that can have a specific damage type are the vex and nechrochasm which are raid exotics

              • I would think either Arc or Solar would work well for Hard Light. It is, after all, firing Light... But then again, I also think [u][b]all[/u][/b] Exotic Primary weapons need to have an elemental damage type applied to them. It's only logical.

                    • I agree with the others that say elemental damage on primaries should be reserved for raid weapons. That's sort of their special aspect which makes them cool and helpful in nightfalls and when there are a bunch of shields. I think the idea of ignoring the shield would be cool. It would be funny to see a team of six with hard lights trying to take down crota with no sword lol.

                      • Only Raid weapons should do elemental damage. That's the bonus reward to getting them. If they added Arc damage to Hard Light, then what about all the other exotics that have no elemental damage? That's where the problem comes in. If one receives it, they would all need to receive it. Plus it seems plenty fair that only Raid weapons can have it, as exotic weapons are sold by Xur, dropped from many different game modes, etc... Primary element damage should be reserved for the special weapons that can only be earned from one specific game mode

                        • Hard Light, from a lore perspective, fires super-heated polymer cartridges at lightning-fast speeds to over-penetrate targets and ricochet off walls. That description definitely fits kinetic damage, I'm afraid. Just because the word "light" is in the weapon name, does not imply arc damage. One could make an argument for solar damage given the super hot cartridges' nature, but that is a stretch.

                            • I once saw a player with maxed 300 hardlight with void dmg. I was freaked out and thought hardlight did void dmg once the special perk was unlocked. But later found out he was probably hacking
