So what does the arrow on the Assault Rifle point to?
I think it's a compass, but why would you need to know what way north is in a video game?
So really, what is it?

In halo 1 it helpeed when you were going down the lifts on assault on the control room, cause i fyou looked at the door and the arrow on the rifle b3efore goin down, you know where to look so you don't get shot in the back by the jackal at the bottom

So really, what is it?[/quote]Just for show, to have a realistic practicality touch to it. On earth, it points North, on Halo, it poitns to the orbiting gas giant. On The Ark, I dunno, on the Halo 04 II, I dunno either. Be a cool thing to look for. Get some clues on Chiefs wherabouts maybe....

On objective games and in Campaign I've noticed that it points to the objective or waypoint.

The arrow thingy points to the highest center of gravity. Or it did on Halo : CE. On Halo 3 valhalla it appears to point to the center of the ark , you can see when your at the watters edge. In avalanche it points to the center of the actual Halo. So I dont know , it might be center of gravity or it might lead to cake. Though I've heard its a lie....

I have read the novels way to many times, the arrow in Halo CE pointed to Threshold which was the large gas giant visable during some of the game play in Halo 1, halo 2 had no Ar and Halo 3 it points to the largest magnetic field with it baring North, IN Halo 1 it pointed specifically to Threshold bc of its size and grav pull, and in Halo 3 there is nothing comprable to Threshold
