Having more than one of the same Exotic. Is it worth it?
OK so we all know the hype behind weapons like Gjallahorn, Ice Breaker, Vex, Suros, Hawkmoon, etc. But even with all that hype, is it worth having more than one of the same exotic?
I have 2 maxed G-Horn 2.0s, 3 Maxed Truths (2 1.0s and 1 2.0), and 3 maxed Vex. I personally think these weapons are worth having more than one of due to how useful they are, plus I have 3 different classes and dont wanna keep putting weapons in the vault to transfer between each character for NFs and such. I also dont mind the grind as it keeps me playing the game.
Once I get another Hawkmoon or IB, I'd probably max that one too.
Thoughts?
P.S I got a second No Land Beyond from the CE 1st chest and I shred that with the quickness. Definitely dont think that weapon is worth having more that one of.

It keeps you from having to do the check in and check out vault swaps all the time. P.S. unless you are collecting delete No Land Beyond its a total pile

But this also depends on the exotic as well, I think, personally, Gjallarhorn, IB and Vex are the only exotics worth having multiples of.

I have 4 invective, one for each guardian and one in the vault for parts

Have 2 IB's (2.0's) keep one on my main (Warlock Master Race) and split time between Hunter & Titan for the other one I have 2 vex as well (1.5's or Attack @ 323) and same rule applies but my hunter and Warlock split one as the hunter has a beast mode SR that begs to be fired (Another NITC)

When I obtain two more icebreakers I plan on maxing them out as well, even tho they are good enough as they are. Every other exotic is up to the user to decide whether they will have a duplicate or rotate around. I say if it is your most used weapon, have duplicates for multiple characters, otherwise scrap. Exotic bounties pop up very often for me, and are normally completed in a day or two depending on Xur and how "up-for-the-challenge" for completing them I feel. Edit: I also have 2 Vision of Confluence (wish I had a third.) VoC and Fatebringer are two weapons I use the most from the last raid that I'd prefer that i had duplicates for all three of my characters.

I personally don't level up my duplicates. I have some but I don't think I'll ever level them. I'm already sharing gear/materials between characters and can only use one at a time anyway. I think I keep my spares just in case I accidentally dismantle something. Or the day comes that I have absolutely nothing else to do.

I have 4 suros, 3 vex, 2 gallahorns, 4 The last words, 2 red deaths, 2 truths, 2 thorns, 2 hawkmoons, 4 icebreakers, and much more shit but I can't seem to be able to dismantle them. I have a problem.

Certainly not saying that I would fully upgrade every duplicate Exotic I have, but if it's a weapon that I use a lot (like the Ice Breaker or G-Horn) I would definitely keep a duplicate or 3rd one if I could get it, simply so that I could save the time of having to constantly switch the weapon between characters.

I personally like to have a fatebringer/VoC/vex/IceB on my 3 chars...if I can ever find 1 let alone 3 ghorns I'd keep it as well. 1 for each character so I can do just about anything with those weps w.o transferring gear...as for Hawk moon it only feels right in my gunslingers hands

No. I have a max Suros already but I got another from crota. I couldn't pull myself to dismantle it. Such a great AR

Only keeping my second Vex everything else I allready have gets sharded, bevor the DLC I had the mentality to have 3 Sets of equal Weapons on my 3 Characters, but then Bungie decided to -blam!- me over for grinding hardcore.

I have 3 of each of the following all 2.0. Vex Thorn Gjallahorn Ice breaker Paredyths revenge Only one of each is maxed out. Not having to vault weapon between character change is great.

1 ReplyNo, that is totally pointless and a waste of Exotic Shards to max them out. You're better off keeping one of each and swapping between characters. It's a little inconvenient, but it saves a lot of vault/character space...and you get an Exotic Shard for every redundant exotic you break down.

I've kept the 3 hawkmoons I've been given, mainly because I just can't bring myself to dismantle that beast!

I never saw a need to have duplicates of any exotics. When I get one . . .I dismantle it right away for the shard (and before the update for the ascendant energies). The same goes for exotic weapon types that I will never use at all. The only possible reason that I could see to have duplicates is if you have multiple characters and don't want to keep passing them around through your vault.

I keep duplicates of very special weapon; Icebreaker etc. Anything I find myself having to constantly swap from character to character. I do lack vault space though.
