The melee performed by phalanx enemies sends me flying back to the other side of the zone. In confined spaces, this automatically kills me when I smash into walls. Sometimes, it just glitches me into death "by the architects".

I'm fine with it, but it can be a bit much. Let me tell you a story... I have Helm of Saint-14, a Titan exotic. Its signature perk, starless night, blinds enemies that enter the ward of dawn (bubble). However, enemies can still melee you if they start their lunge from outside the circle. I also have 'blessing of light', which gives you an overshield after leaving the bubble, as well as the perk that increases that benefit. This has been my load out, more or less, since the first month of destiny. I know how to use these perks. With that in mind, let me set the scene. I and my fireteam is on the Valus Tu'arc strike, where his non-tank lieutenants spawn. As you know, they are phalanxes. So we're standing in the top building, and we kill the first lieutenant. Then the second and third come up. We kill the 2nd, but the third manages to reach us. He melee's our Hunter, who flies out the window and hits a cliff, dying instantly. It wasn't the best cliff, though. He flew across the entire tank field, smashing into the cliff in the far side. More importantly, he lost almost no speed or altitude. I'm not going to do the math, but that defies physics. Things fall in arcs, they don't shoot off in a straight line. (unless they are exposed to a ridiculously powerful force, in which case it might be close to a line. A gun and bullets, for example) Anyway, I pop my bubble, and the phalanx was safely on the other side. I back up, out of melee range. Or so I thought. This particular phalanx lunged, hitting me. I flew through the window, much like my Hunter ally. While his hit barely dented my overshield, I could only watch as the building became smaller and smaller. I was in the air for so long, my shield regenerated fully (I have high regen, but still). I hit the cliff, and died instantly. All my shielding destroyed, even after (presumably) slowing down while flying for hundreds of feet. TL;DR It's on me that I died. And I would have no problem if I had just smashed into the adjacent wall. But Phalanxes are somewhat unrealistic in their melee's power. Being able to shoot an armor plated titan (hundreds of pounds) across that great of a distance would require a massive force, equivalent to many, many, rockets. Maybe add a realistic gravity effect? Air resistance? Just my 0.2$.

1 ReplyA heavily armored, 800lb alien soldier who is used to heavy gravity runs and slams you with a shield meant to be hull playing on interstellar warships... What do you expect to happen?

1 ReplyAs long as you don't hit a rock you can jump a couple times and survive. I think this is indeed a case of scrub-itis.

Maybe you should stop sucking... scrub

It's the equivalent of the swing set on GTA 4 lol

1 ReplyI Titan smashes one right when I got launched ..didn't die
-
I found myself on Mercury after that bash...
-
They've always done this, but its funnier when they hit you and they go flying backwards
-
Lol thats the funnest way to die other than riding their drop ships out of the map

That's the point of the move. To attempt to send you flying into something and kill you. That's why you don't want to fight them close. You can't melee them unless stunned and risk the one hit kill.
