Destiny rewards players for doing nothing

ok this has happened to me multiple times, to the point where i can't take it anymore. So basically whenever i do either a strike playlist (usually vanguard roc) or play any type of mode in Crucible, i always end up with the most kills and assists either 1st or second place but i always get the worst rewards, then the people at the bottom of that list (some who just go afk at the final boss or do nothing in crucible) seem to get the best rewards be it legendary engrams, strange coins, shaders or more recently exotic weapons. I would like to know why bungie seems to not be encouraging players to play the game well and strive to be the best to get better rewards then everybody else, but instead allows other players to frustrate the players actually doing something by giving the less team helping players the better rewards. Please leave a comment if you agree. thanks.

    • Destiny players love to whine and complain. It's hilarious.

      • I firmly believe there is a programming algorithm that rewards poor performance for the sake of "balance". It's not fair and does not promote competitive gameplay.

        • It's why I don;t play PVP apart from IB when I want some armour. Utterly broken to bits reward system.

        • If I had to guess the reasoning behind it, I'd say that it has something to so with casual players being rewarded to keep them interested in the game even if they're not very good. If you were an awesome player who can run every strike damn near flawlessly and always get the most kills, and always get rewarded with awesome stuff, then the guy at the bottom won't ever get anything of value unless they run across blue and purple drops. It's an incentive for him/her to stick with the game even if they're sucking. To me, the RNG method for loot is weird. I'm okay with it, though. I've had plenty of drops go my way, when I have both played well and played poor.

        • It's sad but yes it's awful. PvP in general is a mess but the rewards system is just plain awful. You can literally lose and do completely awful and get rewarded as much as those that try and do well. At least in PvE you have to succeed to get items. You don't get gear when you wipe on a boss in a raid. But you can sure as hell lose and go 0 and 20 and have just as much a chance at Exotics as badas mcgee that went 30 and 0. I remember in the first Iron Banner I was running with a solid group and didn't lose a game for something like 3+ hours of playing, and one game where we crushed the enemy team, not even close, someone on the enemy team got Thunderlord. Just ridiculous. If you lose you shouldn't even have a chance to get exotics. It's one of the big reasons why I never pvp unless I have a very good reason and don't mind virtually banging my head on a wall for a while.

          • i agree with the concept of the crucible's rewards system being broken. it is extremely clear cut. there's deaths, kills and assists--oh, and wins and losses. honestly i just don't play the crucible because i never played halo and call of duty like everyone who is good at crucible did. as far as rewards in pve, it really would be tough to create a tier system. kills, deaths and assists wouldn't be comprehensive enough. My playstyle is different than most. In strikes and raids, I enter the room and immediately focus fire on whoever presents the most threat and takes the most damage in the room. I will get one kill while the others get four because they're killing dregs, vandals and thralls while I killed the yellow captain or wizard. so kills wouldn't be accurate. deaths needs to be included somehow in a reward system. what would be better than kills or assists would be damage done. if there was a way to just formulate an algorithm for damage done in relation to deaths somehow, that would be perfect.

          • Same thing here, did nightfall and carried a 28 who died a total of 5 times with only 20 kills, me and my friend had over 150. I got strange coins, my friend got a legendary engram that turned into ascendant materials, and the 28 we carried got Radiant Dance Machines.

          • I think a lot of us will agree in some way. Tuesday nights Nightfall are a perfect example of this. My friend was rewarded with exotics ALL 3 TIMES, while I got a legendary shotgun, pistol, and pulse! All were dismantled immediately. He got Ghorn, Obsidian Mind, and Heart of he effing Praxic Fire!! He's a good player but doesn't have new lvl'd up weapons to knock the baddies down. All 3 nightfalls, I had over 270 kills, he was around 55. The last nightfall, I was 7 kills away from 300 and I got a pos pulse rifle!??!?!?!?! and he gets all exotics?! I've seen some nonsensical crap in this game before, but to spend a few hrs on all 3 in a row only to get crap, and to see my friend get exotics 100% of the time is just mind boggling!! I'm just glad someone on my friends list finally has a Ghorn, I won't have to use so many heavy synths with my own :)
