This thread was posted before hard mode even came out, was just comparing people's different ways to beat him on normal mode to see what was quickest.
There are plenty of ways to kill Crota on hard mode quicker than just using RT x 3, but most people seem to be more comfortable just doing it this way. If you want to kill him in 2 swords, down him three times.
I'll discontinue this thread because it has been irrelevant since hard mode came out.

I stick with the classic three rts

RB RB RB RT RT. Proven the best. It's actually interesting, after coming off the 3rd RB and you hit RT it's almost instant because of the motion the character

Best sword equals no sword, class dismissed

Just use rt... Rt for days son
-
1 Reply3 Rts each drop is all you need. Don't try to get ballsy with it. If you get 3 smashes in each drop you'll beat him.
-
jeez...keep it simple and safe....ive beaten him around 15 times as swordbearer.....18 right triggers does the trick (6 each sword)

1 ReplyIf doing hard mode and using Titan bubble to hide in as swordbearer and hence getting 2 orbs in a sword ALWAYS do this. R2 R2 R2 hide in bubble R2 R2 Super Repeat this exact combination for second sword AND for third sword after ogres and you will always kill him with time to spare :)

You should also equip shadow jack so you can crouch invis when you're preparing to jump up then drop the sword and blink strike him so you'll be there for the second burn

8 RepliesEdited by teeheelee: 1/24/2015 3:45:00 PMTakes a total of 18 slams to kill crota. We do 3 slams every attack (two attacks per sword) 3 swords total. Only enrages on 3rd sword every time this way. Safe play really. This is for hard mode btw sorry.

4 RepliesI can't believe people are still discussing this. if there was a way to prove it i would, but based on damage and time of attack, or sequence of attacks if you use a combo, and the overall time you have to attack crota, just using the trigger is the best way to attack crota. idk what else has to happen to prove to people that you ONLY USE THE TRIGGER. People are killing him in two swords using nothing but the trigger when attacking. Idk what other proof you need. They are damaging him the very most in the very fastest way, and they are ONLY USING THE TRIGGER. The bumper is so you can get the hell out of dodge when you're done hitting him.

Unless you're trying to do a 2 sword strategy, save yourself the stress and just keep it simple. RT x 3 each time. If you've got time for a 4th once or twice, go for it. If you're doing a 3 sword strategy and RT x 4 each time, you'll enrage him at the end of the 2nd sword and then you'll be screwed.

1 ReplyRT x 3 on six occasions over three swords is my preferred method. This way you're not pressed for timing and should have ample time to get a blink strike on him or get out of Dodge if you aren't a Hunter. Most failures are caused by the sword carrier dying so why push the envelope and put yourself in unnecessary danger? RT x 3 is the easiest and most precise method.

3 RepliesI dont want to start any arguments with anyone. But consistently all i see as the most successful way to do it is only to use the trigger while holding left stick forward so you dont have to completely stand back up, 4 hits as a hunter is easy for me doing this and im downed him twice as sword dude on HM already. Also watch all the crota speed kill videos, all smashes, im sorry its just the most efficient and safest way to get it done. If your not i honestly cant completely trust you as a sword bearer as i have only seen one guy who was not smashing successfully kill crota with me in the group.

1 ReplyRtx3 Rtx3 Works out he does after ogre spawn Play it safe what's the point in taking risks on extra hits just to down him a minute sooner ay

15 RepliesStep 1: press console power button. Your device is now off. You have beaten Crota. You've beaten every video game ever and every video game that is to come. You have overcome the gaming industry's marketing tactics in their quest for monetary gain. Experiences and thoughts anew, a world of color is bestowed upon you. A refreshing wave of life passes through your being as you step out into the blazing heat of Mercury's landscape and die.

Edited by stompsabout: 1/25/2015 4:25:08 AMI do the combo for normal, but for hard I get 3 RT slams on him each time I jump up. On the last sword run, after the ogres, I have one of my teammates generate at least 3 orbs near the left rock so I can have my super on the last jump. 17 RT slams+ Super will kill Crota
-
we do 4 heavy hits on him (R2/RT) and on the first sword we get hi, down to half, then the sword holder does about 4 or 5 heavies again, then we finish him on the third sword
-
5 RepliesDoesnt matter really rt rt rt and three swords he is done. And by the third sword he enrages so its calculated perfectly

2 RepliesGuardians of The Round Table: We have three guardians, including myself who need to defeat Crota on hard. We are looking for three more experienced guardians, preferably with Gjhallahorns, to assist us in killing Crota. We have two level thirty-two Hunters and one level thirty-two Titan. Thank you.
