Ok, so its not really a special engram. But it should be. Here's the concept. Instead of sending us a random legendary engram, which I am sure you will. And for half of us it will be two shards or a class item which will piss people off, how about you do something worthwhile. Send us a 'special token' that allows us to turn it in to xur. Not just any xur, but santa xur. This santa xur will have all of the items he has sold previously. Nothing new, just the things players may have missed. Hell, you could even make us buy it. And it could be the old version. (300) Now players will say 'what if we don't have enough tokens! Simple. You select your gift and he puts it on layaway. Once you have the tokens, you can redeem it. This does multiple things: Removes currency (tokens). Always good in MMO. Doesn't unbalance game (The items have techinically been sold before). Gives people the feeling they got what they wanted, and no players feel ousted. Giving old version means they need two shards to get the new version AND money. And wait. So theres still your famous 'slow us down' in the mechanic. I posted something similar before, but cant seem to find it now. Thoughts? The biggest opposition is 'why not just give gjala to everyone". ---- EDIT : Too late the gifts are already set argument: Probably true. But from a scripting standpoint this is really simple. You already have vendors. You have vendor item lists. There are approximately 20 items he has sold, most have been warlock arms anyway. A new type of engram shouldn't be hard to come up with. Or use the queens mechanics. Have her come back for Christmas. You give players an engram in the mail. You set the price for each item: 1 special shard (or commendation, they seemed to be able to pull that out of thin air last minute after all) the price in coins. All of the mechanics are already in game. And at this point, bungie could use some positive vibes. -- END EDIT ---
