Hi
I appreciate this is not a post about Destiny but would really appreciate any feedback or advice.
My disk drive on my X1 suddenly just stopped reading any format disk on 26/12
I have a feeling this may be online related and causing a software fault and not a problem with the drive itself?
Have read on a few places this could be the case.

DDOS or distributed denial of service will only affect the Xbox live service by overloading the servers with false information. It will in no way harm your home console.remember DDOS is not a hack just some 20 losers thinking they are great on computers

I had a similar issue with mine, disc read error followed by what sounded like the disc drive trying to eat my disc. A power cycle, test on DVD, then test on blu Ray, then test on a game and it's been ok the last 6 months or so. I'm convinced the drives get used to reading a certain format, my launch era ps2 any original discs from before they switched to DVD format have to be covered with a 2" square piece of duct tape or else the drive won't lift it enough to spin the disc, yet dvds and DVD format games work flawlessly no duct tape needed. Hence why after the power cycle I worked my way up to games. Hope it helps

Edited by TantrumBarb: 12/28/2014 2:26:01 PMWhile drives generally last 4-8 years, they can die at any time. You might've had bad luck.. I highly doubt it's connected to the most recent update Edit: just realized you're talking about the optical drive... I'm stumped

My Xbox has been having problems also. I have had to unplug the power from the Xbox to get it to read the disk
